I have been working at Piedmont Community Services full-time

    Pros

PCS closes early the day before a holiday, good place to get experience, everyone is friendly, numerous job opportunities

    Cons

Case managers don't get paid enough their services based on what Medicaid will pay, the price employees pay for insurance

    Advice to Management

Salary increase for case managers or some form of compensation applicable for everyone

    Pros

There are some great staff working at PCS! Benefits are ok. If you are liked you will do well. Like ability not performance based.

    Cons

Worst communication. Information not disseminated from top down. Morale is low. Preferential treatment occurs often. Some must follow rules, while others get a free pass. Not a Team Oriented Atmosphere. Infrastructure on the brink of disaster due to weak upper management. Lots of turnover. Little to no appreciation for those who work hard. No rhyme or reason to assigned salaries or raises. Agency does not have a good reputation in the broader community. Focus on billing targets vs. service quality.

    Advice to Management

New blood is needed. Learn from your errors. Listen to the needs of staff. Treat people equally. Since upper management sets the tone, look closer at what you are doing or not doing. Ponder reasons people are leaving and ways to value tenured staff. Consistency needs to rule!

Got some of the politics you can expect in an agency this size

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up

I worked at Piedmont Community Services full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Teamwork is a bonus, because even though the management is poor, there are some great old timers who have been in the game and will lend a helping hand.

    Cons

Management in all areas from mental health, mental retardation, youth services and substance abuse. In need of a complete overhaul from the top to the bottom.

    Advice to Management

    Quit.
