I worked at Piedmont Natural Gas full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Work and Life balance is good. It is a place where you can just work 5 days/week and keep up.

    Cons

The company and industry is very far behind needed technology where many other industries are much farther along. The leaders of this company aren't aware of these other technologies and want to keep it that way to keep from looking ......

    Advice to Management

    Decline

    Cons

They do things as supervisor, then one mistake in 29 years. See ya. Thank you for honoring my loyalty to your mission statement

    Advice to Management

Be willing to keep your loyal employees and help them through their time of failure

    Cons

It was a call center but it was our job.

    Pros

Great place to work. They really look to invest in their personnel.

    Cons

Company is run by shareholders so decisions are made based on what return the most money.

    Advice to Management

Keep investing in your personnel. Offer them the chance to succeed.

I have been working at Piedmont Natural Gas full-time

    Pros

Big enough to have all the employee benefits and opportunities of a larger company but still small enough to enable you to work with people across many different functions. Being able to learn about and make connections within many different areas of the company makes it possible to pursue new opportunities outside your original line of work.

    Cons

It can have all the inflexibility and lethargy of a much larger company. Not much diversity at director level and above and no real interest in changing that.

    Advice to Management

Actively work to encourage more women and minorities to achieve leadership positions. This isn't altruism, it is in the best financial interest of the company.

    Pros

Great benefits, salary, flex schedules and down-to-earth top management and peers make PNG a great place to work.

    Cons

Departmental cross training doesn't happen, if an employee leaves the company that knowledge goes with them.

    Advice to Management

Ensure that employees are cross trained, it would be less confusion when someone leaves the company.

    Pros

    Pay and benefits are great.

Listening to customers complain about stuff you may not be able to help them with. You can't give everyone what they want and some customers of course don't understand this.
