lots of learning, you have to know about the product. its not just sock and headphones. you need to know what type of couch this is...(they have names) lol
You are really helping people design their home, so dont be afraid to give your opinion.

    Cons

I have been working at Pier 1 Imports part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The staff is fun, they operate almost like a family working together to get the job done while making sure to attend to all customers needs.
Working here definitely lets you express your creativity with design and working with all types of people. Customers love coming back and showing you how you've helped them with their last project and ready for you to help them tackle the next few projects or just putting together gifts for their friends.

    Cons

The only downside would be the slight bit of stress that comes with holiday shoppers and there being a lot of people in the store but that happens at every retail location.

I have been working at Pier 1 Imports part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great discount and amazing staff to work with. Fun environment. Flexible hours if you need them. Management is easy to work with. Always celebrating the associated.

    Cons

So much emphasis on getting people to signup for P1 Credit Card. People don't want another credit card. A lot of heavy lifting and putting together furniture.

    Advice to Management

The "events" are costly and a waste of time.
Keep hours 10-8pm for the entire week.

I have been working at Pier 1 Imports part-time

    Pros

Great policies, overall great place to work!

    Cons

Pay is uncompetitive. It would take years and years to move up to a decent dollar amount because the raises are minimal.

    Advice to Management

Sales Leaders and Assistant Store Managers should be paid more for all that they do to ensure the success of the company. Sales associates' pay is way to close in regards to Sales Leads and Assistant store managers.

I have been working at Pier 1 Imports full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great work environment, great benefits and very thorough on boarding process. Love the people I work with and general attitude.

    Cons

Time consuming to learn all of the programs, but there were many resources! It takes a while to move up here even if you are highly recommended.

    Advice to Management

This is such a PC/ nice company so sometimes they lack the ability to be transparent in their feedback and address larger issues.

I have been working at Pier 1 Imports part-time

    Pros

Fun place to work, lots of opportunities to be creative when merchandising the store. Customers over all are fun to work with and design for.

    Cons

Asking young girls to unload trucks full of furniture multiple times a week. Hire stock associates or schedule people who can unload the truck without injuring themselves! Spread out who gets the 5am hours, don't just give it to one person...
