I have been working at Pier 1 Imports part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very flexible schedules, pays minimum wage for base employees but offers a lot of incentives and bonuses for every level of staff. Very encouraging and positive atmosphere.

    Cons

Often high expectations. Constantly reformatting their business. Lots of changes lately making it difficult to adapt.

    Advice to Management

Not much room for advancement past Sales Leader.

Very raxed environment, friendly employees, very flexible scheduling, great learning environment, customers are fun and friendly and always looking for your help.

I have been working at Pier 1 Imports part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I love working at Pier 1. As someone who only had previous experience working in hospitality, retail was definitely a new field for me, but I love all the new responsibilities I have. Your store will probably only have about 15-20 employees (Including management & freight) which means every store feels like a small family. Have a great attitude, helps to be a little competitive and you will do great here. If you want to move up the ranks, be on top of every new project, ask for more responsibilities and a promotion is in your future.

    Cons

Tons of responsibilities for a Sales Lead. You will be on your feet from 4-7 hours guaranteed,(Plus responsible for ensuring all KPI's are positive during your shift) but the upside of this is, you really get to see how management operates and it's great way to get your foot in the door and show you can handle responsibilities.

I worked at Pier 1 Imports full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Customers, great merchandise variety, discount, flexible schedule, work live balance.

    Cons

Pay scale is a bit low compared to other retailers in the area. General decline in sales.

    Advice to Management

Attend to pay, especially for entry level positions. Pier 1 changed a lot of policies this year, trying to save money, this can be disheartening if clear communication from upper management is missing.
