I have been working at Pier 1 Imports part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great discount and amazing staff to work with. Fun environment. Flexible hours if you need them. Management is easy to work with. Always celebrating the associated.

    Cons

So much emphasis on getting people to signup for P1 Credit Card. People don't want another credit card. A lot of heavy lifting and putting together furniture.

    Advice to Management

The "events" are costly and a waste of time.
Keep hours 10-8pm for the entire week.

I worked at Pier 1 Imports full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This is a great place to work! Great benefits, 4 weeks vacation, flex days, the culture is very respectful. Work is not very hard or stressful. Not a lot of meetings. New CEO seems willing to try new things to turn company around.

    Cons

People stay forever, so it's hard to move up. No clear career path. Systems are homegrown so you won't get experience using systems other retailers use. Communication doesn't always get shared evenly, so sometimes you feel like you are left out from the bigger picture. Can be boring at times. Hard to get approval to try new things.

    I worked at Pier 1 Imports full-time

    Pros

Working here, if fully taken advantage of position, can teach you to become a better sales person for any future jobs or career path separate from pier1 if any. It is a great environment and constant learning position for sales person.

    Cons

I do think they need to show you more "hands on" on how to work the warehouse. I was not a back room employee but there were times where we had to help out, and the videos we watched when hired don't come close to fully showing how to fully help others in the back room as unpackaging and sorting carts.

    Advice to Management

Create more opportunities for employees to grow and move up, stop only hiring people from the outside for positions that your employees work really hard to earn. Its very unfair.

I have been working at Pier 1 Imports part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Creative Environment
    Variety of Duties

    Cons

    Hardly any advancement ability
    Micromanagement
    Constantly changing operational objectives

    Advice to Management

Set goals that are reasonable and somewhat consistent. Daily objectives that are constantly changing confuse the associates and destroy sales efficiency. Provide some incentive for good work that will in turn decrease employee turnover. This will also improve customer experience and reduce company costs.

I have been working at Pier 1 Imports full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great work environment, great benefits and very thorough on boarding process. Love the people I work with and general attitude.

    Cons

Time consuming to learn all of the programs, but there were many resources! It takes a while to move up here even if you are highly recommended.

    Advice to Management

This is such a PC/ nice company so sometimes they lack the ability to be transparent in their feedback and address larger issues.

I have been working at Pier 1 Imports part-time

    Pros

Great policies, overall great place to work!

    Cons

Pay is uncompetitive. It would take years and years to move up to a decent dollar amount because the raises are minimal.

    Advice to Management

Sales Leaders and Assistant Store Managers should be paid more for all that they do to ensure the success of the company. Sales associates' pay is way to close in regards to Sales Leads and Assistant store managers.
