I worked at Pier 1 Imports (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great merchandise, good promotion sales, and great open-door policy.

    Cons

Some great managers and sales associates are greatly overlooked while some poor employees remain to create toxic working environments.

    Advice to Management

Please require sales chats and please review some of your employees. Please revise the current training for employees - primarily role-playing (was very valued!!!).

I have been working at Pier 1 Imports part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Coworkers, employee discount, friendly atmosphere, interesting products, flexible hours, vacation pay for part-time, company CAN take feedback and use it to grow

    Cons

Retail, short hours, no room to advance, dead-end, discount and coupons do not stack, customer interaction, customer service does not know/ignores standard company policy, low wages, management not always on same page

    Advice to Management

Make it easier to advance to higher, better paying roles, and stop giving in to the customer so much! They are NOT always right and it makes your store employees look like liars when we try to follow company policy!!

I have been working at Pier 1 Imports full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very rewarding to get to help people and fun. Leading and training is made easy by utilizing company provided materials. Also, I like that Pier 1 asks for our input and they are utilizing our suggestions

    Cons

Not thrilled about pay scale, especially with the amount of years experience I have

    Advice to Management

People's experience from previous employers should count and be more carefully considered to determine rate of pay

I have been working at Pier 1 Imports part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Employee discount is always nice! Pier 1 is a company who cares about their employees. They do things like employee appreciation week, a gift card for Christmas, raises for good performance, lots of good selling incentives, etc. Your hard work does not go unnoticed at Pier 1, which is one of the things I love most!
The staff in general is fun to work with & for the most part everyone works well together. Getting shifts covered is usually pretty easy. (especially if you're willing to help others get theirs covered).
It's also really cool to see some of the merchandise, lots of it is handmade or painted making each item unique.

    Cons

. Sometimes holiday season gets a little hectic, but if you're good at multi tasking you shouldn't have a problem. Rude customers(but hey you're in retail, what do you expect)
