    Pros

Pilkington has an good pay package and decent benefits.
The people you work with are friendly.

    Cons

They do not like to pay you based on your experience, which can create an unfair advantage for someone who has been in other industries working.

    Advice to Management

Try to eliminate some of the good ol' boy practices at the manufacturing sites. You are leaving the real talent out there. Maintain your workforce by loosening those purse strings.

    I worked at Pilkington full-time

    Pros

Its a job that pays the bills benefits are ok

    Cons

Senior Management and Plant manager should be fired and replaced with competent Production managers not engineers. also the good ole boy system is alive and well amongst the ranks. If your an incompetent employee in a upper level management position you get promoted. Safety manager doesn't know his arse from a hole in the ground. Scheduler keeps screwing up constantly causing rushes she needs to be fired. If your looking to move up in this company forget it. Vets need not apply. No clear polices or standard safety practices. Most communication happens on days the nurse works days all meeting are during the day often times when its your day off.

    Advice to Management

Get your butts out on the floor and work 12 hours in their shoes see what each shift does rather than hear about it from somebody through the rumor mill. learn how to read and interpret your data. this plant could produce so much better if the dumbasses in charge would listen to their people. Respect is earned so earn it. Also hire people that have lead people not people that think they can lead people. Schedule briefings when its convenient for your people this may make your day longer but your not making 50 people come in just to accommodate your 8 hour shift.

I worked at Pilkington full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people are very nice and they have very good benefits packages. They take care of their retirees.

    Cons

Policies are extremely inconsistent and not clear. Employees are allowed different things based on their managers discretion because of this. They do not like to breed and nurture talent (though they will say they do when applying/interviewing).
There is a huge gap between local management and general staff. With a few exceptions, local management and upper management act as though they don't have the time of day for the lowly general workforce.

    Advice to Management

Better talent management and clearer policies to not allow for so much discretion.
