I have been working at Pine River Capital Management full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Foremost, excellent people to work with (the best I've seen in this industry). Very competitive pay and benefits. Highly-transparent senior management. Major investments in talent, platforms, and infrastructure to make everything work. And an "entrepreneurial" culture where each person can have a large impact and pursue personal and career growth.

    Cons

Rocky period for the hedge fund industry stunted the firm's massive growth and expansion. Folks who were very happy when things were skyrocketing have found it challenging to adjust to a less than stellar period. Morale issues and turnover followed, but those who have stuck it out seem highly-committed and realistic about the cyclical nature of this business.

I worked at Pine River Capital Management full-time

    Pros

Great People . Great Benefits and Pay. Used to have enough challenges to keep one motivated.

    Cons

Executive Management hired useless PM's and more importantly kept them on for a long time instead of culling them. Aimed big but fell woefully short due to poor risk management. Management had no clue on how to manage a larger AUM, also looks like this Firm was a 1 trick mortgage pony as opposed to being a true multi strat.

I worked at Pine River Capital Management full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Core group of engaged, dedicated employees and partners; good salary and benefits; productive mix of personalities; free lunch.

    Cons

Series of ill-advised hires and deviation from core values led to a rapid decline; morale is low, key staff either let go or jumped ship; remaining employees are treated like kindergarteners with "incentives" like pizza reward for reaching goals.

I worked at Pine River Capital Management full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Pay was decent. Office is pretty. Free parking. Location is good. Handful of people who are still there are decent humans

    Cons

No respect for senior management. They seem only worried about their own personal bottom line. Letting people go who have been dedicated to the firm for years. Mismanagement of spending. Some people grossly/ embarrassingly over paid
