I have been working at Pinehurst Resort full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The pros are meeting friendly, interesting ppl from all over

    Cons

They automatically take 20% of everyone's vacation time yearly while management receives bonuses annually. If you're white...you're advancing period. Department Heads only have High School Education.

    Advice to Management

Diversity, Equal Opportunity, get managers that have more than High School Diploma.

I worked at Pinehurst Resort full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Not too much!! As a employee, you'll get discounts on food, hotel rooms, and golfing. Health benefits are average at best. Hotel Guest sometimes tip you if he/she likes what you're doing.

    Cons

    * Housekeeping staff are definitely overworked and underpaid; poor work/life balance; and they'll make you work a 6 day work schedule when the resort gets into their busy season.

    * Discovered way too much favoritism toward certain employees within the department.

    * Management Staff in the department don't care about their employees working for them. All they care about is numbers. Then every time a staff member go see one of the managers about a problem regarding other individuals or something, they act like they're listening to you. But at the same, they're not buying into it. They'll sweep your concerns right under the rug like it's nothing.

    * Low Morale--high staff turnover rate along with multiple staff call-outs.

    * Low pay--You are getting paid minimum wage. There If you call-out, be late, or not show up for work, you'll lose $1 per hour extra for that week.

    Advice to Management

"DO WHAT'S RIGHT"; PLEASE!! Y'ALL NEED TO LEARN HOW TO TREAT YOUR EMPLOYEES RIGHT, OR ELSE THEY'LL WALK OUT AND QUIT ON YOU...JUST PLAIN SIMPLE.

I worked at Pinehurst Resort (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Discounts, meeting famous people, great opportunity to make money during busy seasons.

    Cons

Awful hourly pay, management is childish and often in the position because they know people instead of their skill base. It is a very demanding job with little to no reward. Management takes credit for your work while they are out golfing or pretending to be sick. I personally witnessed many illegal things from management and saw a manager get bonuses and paid for over a month that she was at home during one of the most important championships. While the employees worked hard and worked literally 14 -21 days straight with no bonus and literally being yelled at for nothing they had control over.

    Advice to Management

Take time and go work another job for a week or two and you will realize just how illegal your activities are. Employees should be treated equal and have the same expectations that the management team should follow.

I worked at Pinehurst Resort full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Meeting people from all over

    Cons

Managers get in positions based on who they know. No minorities in upper management at all. They will hire outside or below your level to save a dollar.

    Advice to Management

Re-evaluate your management and find out why your best staff members are constantly leaving and doing great things elsewhere.

I worked at Pinehurst Resort full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great golfing privileges!! $5 golf!! Decent percentages off of apparel.

    Cons

Working on maintenance is a glorified joke . For a company that makes 10's of millions a year, they give the people who make the golf course look it's best a quarter raise a year( that's 25 cents, you heard me right!!). It's a shame because so many people just leave that are great for the course , they just can't make it living off so little.

    Advice to Management

Pay your workers you greedy bunch of hypocrites. Their slogan is "do what's right", then do what's right to your employees!!!!

    Pros

    Great People
Upper Management that did seem to care
    Great Learning Experience

    Cons

Salary to Work Ratio is unfair
Nearly impossible to advance in your career
Its one of those dead-end jobs

I worked at Pinehurst Resort full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I made a ton of money working there. The benefits were pretty good especially if you like you to play golf. I met some of my best friends there and the hotel is a beautiful place to work at.

    Cons

Management there treats you like a number not a human. Their philosophy is "what have you done for me today" not all you have put into the company. I know many employees that worked there 10 to 20 years and were fired over nothing. They will fire you in a heartbeat just to replace you with a younger version. They fired me when I was pregnant for something that I had no control over. They will work you to death and get rid of you without a thought or concern

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees the way you would want to be treated.
