I have been working at Pink Jeep Tours full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good money during the busy season. The day goes by fast. I get to be with people on vacation for a living. I get to watch the sunset almost every night. Good rapport amongst employees. Good benefits. Good schedule. Room for upward movement.

    Cons

Very physically and emotionally demanding work environment. Don't get paid to wash or inspect your vehicle (1-1.5 hours per day unpaid). Don't get paid when you're not on tour (You can literally sit around for 10 hours and only get paid for 2 hours of touring). Overly friendly work environment can feel "fake" at times. You're working in the extreme heat in the summer and temperatures around 0 degrees in the winter. Your body gets really beat up from riding in the jeep all day. You're breathing in red rock dust all day. (I realize this sounds like a lot, but I don't want to give the impression that this is a bad place to work. These are just the things that come to mind.)

    Advice to Management

    None at this time.

    Pros

This company is one of the higher paying jobs and offers plenty of room for growth. Pink Jeep Tours truly cares about the environment and goes the extra mile to preserve the integrity of all locations they are in.

    Cons

Poor management organization. This department has gone through over four managers in less than four years. Lack of coverage during busy times and focus on producing 'numbers' often leads to a frantic and unorganized environment. Also, this is a non-commission based company that somehow still manages to have a very competitive atmosphere.

    Advice to Management

Focus more on training employees, managing schedules better, building a positive environment based around the customer and not on the 'numbers'.

I worked at Pink Jeep Tours (Less than a year)

    Pros

Largest company in area to provide jobs and encourage tourism. They maintain forest service trails to ensure safety for vehicles, clients and employees. Tour guides are best in business and most professional staff out of all local tourism businesses, along with great customer service from first contact to last drop off of passengers.

    Cons

Understaffed for the growing demand. Infra-structure is ill-equipped to handle the rapid growth. Losing it's small business appeal for greater revenue.

    Advice to Management

Encourage teamwork and positive talk to employees.

    Pros

While at the Plaza, I made new friends, some like family. Great management at the Plaza. Great product .

    Cons

Guide training. Most definitely lacked consistency, not all Sr Trainers on the same page. Hiring ethic among Sr management sucked at best. The call center is atrocious! Poor management and treat the employees like it was a Chinese sweat shop.

    Advice to Management

    Get it together

I worked at Pink Jeep Tours (Less than a year)

    Pros

Taking groups to wonderful, interesting places. Being able to go to wonderful, interesting places, for your work. Fun co-workers. Always learning fascinating facts.

    Cons

Salary is adequate, which is a prevalent theme.

I worked at Pink Jeep Tours full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent training right off the bat and when training was finished I felt more than confident in my position. Everyone is very friendly, welcoming, and has no problem lending a helping hand. The benefits are excellent and the entry-level position pay is one of the highest in town. During "high season" you get a couple weeks of catered lunches due to the high demand put on employees. And employee appreciation prizes, parties, and get -togethers are unparalleled to any other former employer of mine.

    Cons

The guides have plenty of flexibility with their attire, but the customer service reps have little to none. Seeing as how this is an adventure tour company, you'd think the attire wouldn't be so rigid. Also, the CEO seems to be quite conservative and strict with his employees.

    Advice to Management

Consider your employees thoughts and opinions more when it comes to decision making or policy changes. If your employees aren't happy with the day-to-day goings on in the company, customers will begin to see it come through.

I worked at Pink Jeep Tours full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Fantastic work space....the wilderness in Northern Arizona. Good colleagues and diverse backgrounds. All of the worker staff are great people with varied histories from lawyers to air force to business owners.

    Cons

They have grown so much, therefore they must have more systems in place. They have become much more rigid and controlling of the staff. Must be a hazard of growth but it stiffles the creativity and fun that is thier business. The first few years may be tough but ....keep your nose clean...and they will keep you around for years.

    Advice to Management

    Be more flexible.

I have been working at Pink Jeep Tours full-time

    Pros

Owner dedicated to employee and guest welfare. Integrity stressed as a key component of company. Seems to be fair treatment of all departments and employees.

    Cons

High cost of medical coverage, especially if you have a family of 3+.

    Advice to Management

Work on better medical coverage pricing

I worked at Pink Jeep Tours full-time

    Pros

Best tour company in the business, great product that is easy to sell

    Cons

Executive team has made decisions that are based on increasing revenue with disregard to how it will impact future business. Owner is taking advise from a team that has never worked in the tourism and travel industry, and I fear that the outcome will have more damage than good.

    Advice to Management

Hire a team that has industry experience
