I have been working at Pinnacle Entertainment full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great group of team members. Your co-workers really care about your well being.

    Cons

The main complaint people have is their schedule. Most positions are not an 8-5 due to being open 24 hours a day.

    Advice to Management

Make sure everyone is on the same page at all times for things to run as smooth as possible.

I have been working at Pinnacle Entertainment full-time

    Pros

There aren't many pros anymore. As time goes by since being sold and new management comes in, there isn't much reason to stay as we watch benefits and good people disappear from the team.

    Cons

New abusive F&B management, mistreats both other managers and employees
HR is given no power to fire abusive employees
Abuse and mistreatment reported countless times, only for HR to say they can't do anything

Very toxic environment for those who are professional seeking other professionals, or basic healthy leadership

Used to actually live up to culture and values year ago. Unfortunately, they have been left in the dust along with frustrated employees with high standards that need to leave to maintain sanity and self-respect.

    Advice to Management

Time to clean house of toxic management. Most of the employees I have asked about/how they are doing are not happy there anymore and are disgusted with how management has been acting. Many have already left for new jobs, put in their two weeks, are waiting to finish their education, or are simply waiting for a call to finally leave. When people who have happily been with the company for 5-10+ years are fleeing the scene at the same time, there is clearly something negative happening.

Word travels fast. Some professors at colleges in the area have now chosen to never recommend Ameristar as a place for students in the F&B industry to work anymore based on the experiences their current and former students have shared with them.
It's a shame to watch a previously great team and company to work with ruin itself by choice- turning a blind eye to toxic management and relationships, in general.

    Advice to Management

Be more willing to listen and actually act upon issues brought up from those within the department.

I have been working at Pinnacle Entertainment part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    great team with flexible hours

    Cons

It is against policy to be friends with customers, which causes problems when I have been friends with them before I started working there.

I worked at Pinnacle Entertainment full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There were a lot of opportunities to learn and interact with other departments. Excellent opportunities to get to know the guests. Many repeat guests that you end up considering family.

    Cons

There is a hierarchy between departments. It should be that we are all one team working towards a common goal. Upper management needs to take the time to stop and talk with hourly team members. Be personable, and be present. In order to effectively lead the team, you need to get to know your team. You set the example. How can you ask the team members to recognize guests, when you walk past hourly team members and don't even speak when spoken too. Very bad example.

    Advice to Management

While the bottom line is important, always remember that happy team members equates to happy guests, and that is always a great equation for revenue. Don't sell your team members short and expect guest appreciation to rise.

    Pros

Pretty good company to work for. Decent benefits, decent pay. It seems the Executive team genuinely cares about its employees and understands how important the front line members are to the success of the business.

    Cons

There isn't much coaching/mentoring going on there. And, depending on which property you work at, there are very limited opportunities for advancement.
