I have been working at Pinnacle Entertainment part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Super friendly employees and bosses. Great team environment and everyone is supportive. Everyone is very friendly and occasionally get together for drinks. The coworkers were by far the best part of this job. If you get overwhelmed or stressed out by a guest, they encourage you to take breaks/ breathers to calm down.

    Cons

I worked part time and was told I would be working 20-25 hours per week. I averaged about 15 hours per week and was unable to get extra hours. There were often weeks where I would only work one shift/week. I felt that the 20-25 hours per week was very misleading. I often felt that many events weren’t communicated well to part time staff. You just show up and they tell you what to do. You have to work in the department for a very long time before you get promoted. There is an employee that has been part time for over two years. When a spot opened, they didn’t offer it to any part time employees, but transferred an employee from another department. This was really discouraging for all part timers.
The schedule is incredibly inflexible. You basically have to work every Friday and Saturday. If you need off, you just miss the hours and there is no flexibility.
The job itself can get incredibly repetitive and boring and some guests are so disrespectful which can be wearing.

    Advice to Management

Value your employees with more hours/ information. When there is a position open, promote part timers or you’ll lose good employees.

I worked at Pinnacle Entertainment full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

They took everything away that was positive

    Cons

Corporate dictates how employees should be evaluated. So, even if you have a solid team you have to rate someone negatively because a statistician in Las Vegas who has never worked in a casino said so. They do not put employees first. They never have. They have the same lame employee holiday party on a Monday night every year. Don't expect your boss to have your back- they never will. It's you or them and it is very cut throat.

    Advice to Management

Don't tell people they are "well suited" in their current position. That is the opposite of being a mentor or a leader. You might as well tell them give up now on ever trying to get promoted.

I worked at Pinnacle Entertainment full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

They will give you a chance at a job when others will not but that may be because there is such a huge turnover.

    Cons

Cut back on health insurance, can't cash out PTO anymore use it or lose it if you leave, get hired on for one job and they cut other jobs and give those duties to you with no additional compensation. You take a week of vacation you are expected to be available if someone needs you even though you are on vacation.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring sayers and start promoting doers.
