I worked at Pinnacle Foods full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I liked working at Pinnacle because there were many chances to advance to different departments and learn different manufacturing practices.

    Cons

It took too long to hire qualified people into positions and a high turnover rate of employees through temporary agencies.

    Advice to Management

Hire qualified people that are looking for careers for longevity.

I worked at Pinnacle Foods full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Available opportunities because the company was good at pushing people out. More than enough people were excited regarding a buy out, as an opportunity to change a toxic culture.

    Cons

HR was a joke. Any issues such as harassment were brushed under the rug and the victim was the one reprimanded. Lack of ownership on all levels.

Directors who theoretically should be giving technical direction, lacked ability and background to do so, from not being able to use basic computer functions such as Outlook and Powerpoint, to voicing their opinions for the sole purpose of hearing themselves speak out loud, not being able to do math involving percentages, the list goes on.

Forecasting was always an issue. Procurement couldn't properly vet and track bids. Marketing constantly changed their mind with no supporting data, just because it was a feeling - not a very collaborative group because they didn't take the time to understand job function of cross functional teams.

"Flat organization" = No professional development, no metrics for advancement but there was an expectation to give 200% effort.

    Pros

Loved the people - supervisors were great easy to get along with and willing to share and train all who wanted more knowledge.

    Cons

New management arrived and it is all about the numbers. No relationship with the workers, or anyone they consider below them. They want to micro manage but have not learned the functions of the department.
