I have been working at Pinnacle Foods full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent work-life balance, good compensation, plenty of work and project ownership opportunities, lots of opps to present to leadership

    Cons

Lack of leadership, executive leadership team does not make decisions, too lean for own good, no resources for projects, have to wear too many hats if you want to get anything done, horrible HR with poorly placed candidates

    Advice to Management

need to hire some help....we hire temps to maintain low SG&A numbers but eventually projects will start to suffer. People who do well here are seasoned veterans whom do not lead guidance, do your time, and leave for greener pastures

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Pinnacle Foods (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Your time off and some of the employees are cool.

    Cons

Supervisors counting time against you when overtime wasn't posted and HR taking their word over yours.....if you have doctor appointment and they decide to have a mandatory meeting at last minute it counts against you for not being there. It's a very stressful job and makes Health problems worse. It's best to quit and leave all the issues behind. Management has a lot of turn over that's why the company will fail.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to do right by the employees it will bit you in the butt in the end. When employees quit because of the stress of the job HR needs to put the right reason on separation papers(That I quit) not that I was discharged which is a lie. The new HR team is made up of liars, this is the worse HR team that the Jackson facility has ever had in the time I have been at this plant....corporate may need to check in to these HR workers. They sorry just out for themselves not there to help the employees.

    Pros

Good people getting the work done every day. Mostly kind, helpful coworkers working hard to keep their heads above water. Nice office.

    Cons

This place is top heavy in general but especially in decision making. Every decision about every little thing is made by 1 maybe 2 people high up in the organization. Sales is ruled with an iron fist. Those who offer opposing ideas for consideration are shown the door. There is no collaboration, no coaching, counseling or mentoring. The elt is not interested in the opinions of anyone not on the elt. Very political environment with no encouragement to think in any manner except the Pinnacle Way. No work life balance unless you are lucky enough to have the right boss. Skimpy vacation policy. No flex working arrangements such as working from home or summer Fridays.

    Advice to Management

Hoping the new CEO will see the top level decision clog and embrace the notion of pushing some decisions down into the organization. There is so much potential here if it could be unleashed. The high turnover will continue until management collaborates more and concentrates on strategy vs making all lower level decisions. Have faith you have hired smart people who know their disciplines well. Try to embrace the 21st century and treat people with respect, allowing them some freedom in determining how best to get their work done and balance life. Happy employees are the best employees.

    Pros

Few pros, a couple of nice people. A job if you can't find a good company. Lots to fix and not much support.

    Cons

Many folks set up to fail. One suicide this year. Don't expect a long career here.

    Advice to Management

    Get new management.
