I worked at Pinon Unified School District 4 full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Professional development, teacher housing is available for certified staff at a low rate, teacher housing is located with in the school district compound, there are many opportunities to get involved in the community.

    Cons

Management, dirt roads, mud days (aka snow days), location is great for those who enjoy the outdoors and policies are not followed.

    Advice to Management

work on your social awareness skills, you are doing more harm than good.

I worked at Pinon Unified School District 4 full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

area is nice, housing is cheap and easy, many of the employees are great people

    Cons

New Superintendent is not good, too many people get promotions based on years of service rather than quality of work.

    Advice to Management

Talk to the teachers before making certain hires, get their input so they have ownership in it.

I worked at Pinon Unified School District 4 as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Loved working with the Navajo children, eager to learn and crave attention. Very nice school building and housing was affordable.

    Cons

Not secure or safe for teachers. Navajo parents were not easy to get along with. Administration was unfair to white teachers as most of the board and administration was Navajo. Housing was not up to par and often in ill-repair.

    Advice to Management

Hire more capable teachers and treat them good. Stop being unfair to the white teachers and discriminating.
