I worked at Pioneer Center for Human Services full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There is room for employees to have separate offices, flex hours and benefits.

    Cons

There is extreme disorganization, lack of professionalism and therapist burn out. It is basically a medicaid billing mill and the therapy comes second.

    Advice to Management

Work on team building, improving management communication, focusing on therapy, not scheduling clients back to back and respecting your employee's time.

I have been working at Pioneer Center for Human Services full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The Organization has a good mission, trying to help the unfortunate. MI, Homeless, substance abuse.

    Cons

The organizations spend money on things they don't really need, because someone gave them a grant or donation.. Don't plan out more than current year, if that, and is a pipedream.

    Advice to Management

Get your act together or move on.

I worked at Pioneer Center for Human Services full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Clients, benefits, paid time off, mission and vision

    Cons

Everything else. Most (new) management seem to be out of touch with reality (financially and otherwise). Little respect of employees from most management. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

    Advice to Management

Don't fix it if it's not broken.

I worked at Pioneer Center for Human Services full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits and great Co workers

    Cons

No proper training No compassion for employees who need advice or stress release and drilling into their employees that they should never befriend a co worker

    Advice to Management

Show more compassion, don't use employees questions against them....step into the shoes of your employee before judging them

    Pros

    it has a good POTENTIAL

    Cons

extremely low pay, disrespectful management, a lot of office politics-disgusting, it's a billing mill where clients never come first, people that bill don't get paid, dead weight at the top.

    Advice to Management

most should quit, no point in so many managers

    Pros

    The clients are really great!

    Cons

Management is elite and not interested in the little people on the work floor or on in the group homes. They target staff and get rid of them without reason.

    Advice to Management

Be thankful for the staff you have who put up with all of your negativity and impossible expectations. It is one thing to want people to attain their highest, but without the resources it is simply impossible. Hre more staff!!!

    Pros

I would have to think very hard to find one but I would say you feel sorry for the people this place is supposed to be helping.

    Cons

The pay is low! Extremely low!! Management disrespects the employees, All this place is about is collecting money from the state. Office politics at its worst! No one in upper management cares about anything but causing disfuction. The clients are just numbers to this company and are being used to collect money. Bottom line: this place is a disaster!
The employment specialist has no heart or training to work in this place.

    Advice to Management

Fire all management. Bring in sincere people who know how to talk to people and work out things out in a respectful way.

I worked at Pioneer Center for Human Services full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Recently they gave home workers a raise. Many staff are hard working, honest and have high work ethics.

    Cons

Where do you start? It is the blind leading the blind. Each time a new wave of management comes in, and that is frequently, a whole new set of rules are put in place. Frequently the rules treat staff as children or criminals. Management has terminated many excellent staff based on what one person or the popular clique says. Terminations occur with no investigations. Money is wasted on the Castle, the new building where MI clients are serviced. It is gorgeous and state of the art, even psychiatry by computer sessions. Group homes are dilapidated and maintained as well as the partial maintenance staff can do. Money is spent for frivolous things such as a see through conference room, yet salaries had not changed for home staff for years. They did not publish their starting salary until they finally reached $11.00 an hour. Prior to that it stated OPEN. Human Resources is a rehash of the old regime that played favorites daily. If you want to maintain your dignity as a human services worker, do not apply. Least compassionate agency for staff ever.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to what you are doing, the lawsuits will keep coming!!!

    Pros

It's fun working with the clients. Seeing them do stuff for them self and be happy about it. Helping them be a part of something and a family

    Cons

Short staffed lack of training people that don't like you will set you up to fail and be ready for the law suit

    Advice to Management

    Get new management
