    Pros

Located in Fanieul Hall, large company with opportunities for growth

    Cons

I wasn't interested in the mutual fund industry so my experience as an administrative professional was skewed.

    Advice to Management

Don't make it all about the money. Find a way to connect to the employees better.

    Pros

Flat organization, decent time off/vacation package, relaxed work environment, health benefits are good but less than they used to be

    Cons

Management has no clear strategy, no career planning and few career opportunities, salary+bonus is mediocre for industry, no real incentive package, difference in pay between top performer and muddler can be minimal

I have been working at Pioneer Investment Management full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It is a well-established company. They've been around a long time, so there's security in that.

    Cons

Certain areas of the company are highly valued and compensated accordingly. However, if you don't work in those areas, it is clear you are not as valued.

    Advice to Management

    Compensate people based on performance.

I have been working at Pioneer Investment Management full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It's a job. I would not recommend working there.

    Cons

Poor management, projects are mismanaged or not managed at all. Pay is terrible. They will hire you with one agreement and THEN renege on that agreement. Bonuses are terrible. They spout words, but there is nothing behind those words.

    Advice to Management

Stop lying to employees. Reward the employees that work hard. Learn to manage.

    Pros

Benefits were good, pay was competitive and my co-workers were friendly and generally cared about each other. A great place to launch your career to gain experience, but anyone with more that 5+ years experience should avoid working here.

    Cons

VERY low morale due to a complete change in the senior management team. Departments operate in silos and have idea how the work they are doing impacts other departments and the company as a whole. Lack of communication between departments, and from the senior management team, makes it a frustrating and inefficient workplace. A lot of finger pointing at the mid-manager level which leads to a "cover your butt" atmosphere.

    Advice to Management

    Communicate!

I worked at Pioneer Investment Management as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Skill Development: Managers gave important work that contributed to investment decisions. It was up to me to take the challenge and learn, but senior analysts and portfolio managers made clear what it took in terms of quality of work in order for my voice to be valued.
Had opportunity to attend investor conferences, one-on-ones with executives of portfolio companies. Despite being an undergraduate intern in an office that didn't even hire straight out of college, it was not only okay but encouraged for me to ask questions in these meetings, which allowed me to provide input during decision meetings for various fund teams.

    Cons

The lack of a structured internship program meant that other interns who took less initiative to work with analysts and PMs ended up doing significantly less work and less valuable work.
At that time there was no opportunity to receive a full-time return offer, though I was not looking for one as I was not entering my senior year of college.

    Advice to Management

More expectations for all managers to give their interns valuable work would have helped them build skills. This is a reality of an informal intern program though where interns tend to get jobs through personal connections with some exceptions.
