I have been working at Piper Aircraft full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people for the most part.

    Cons

A few bad eggs. Need to hire more workers.

    Advice to Management

    Use GE approach!

I have been working at Piper Aircraft full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Variety is great as the company is small and you don't get pigeon-holed. Great people who help each other especially when you're new. Good pay & benefits like a flying club, flexible health insurance choices, matching 401K, PTO, etc.

    Cons

Advancement can be slow and it's an old company.

    Advice to Management

Treat people like a team and value them.

I worked at Piper Aircraft full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great work force with some flexibility.
The lower level employees is what kept me coming back.
    Location

    Cons

    • Benefits are way too expensive
    • Small old company
    • Executive Staff is more concerned with their golden parachute than the health of the company
    • Too many Directors, to which...most don't have a clue what they’re doing
    • Upper management is stuck in a silo and top down communication is nonexistent
    • Pay is relatively on the lower side and career advancement is slow
    • Building is old and the parking lot is a disaster
    • You'll hear "the company is healthy" then 3 months later there’s a 20% force reduction??

If you're contemplating working here...stop! Go to a real company, but if you enjoy rollercoaster rides…this place is perfect.

    Advice to Management

Honestly, the entire management team needs to be shaken up and until the two at the top are gone, nothing will change.

I have been working at Piper Aircraft full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great pay, benefits, great support from leads, supervisors, and management in the 2 different departments I have worked in. This place is a breath of fresh air compared to all of the other jobs I've worked all of my life. A very pleasant and friendly place to work with the ability to pace yourself and do a good and thorough job instead of being rushed and kicked around like a dog.

    Cons

Very difficult to get hired. I applied to over a dozen entry level positions over the course of two years (2014-2016) before I ever got a call for an interview. It doesn't seem like HR has their act together. The only shot it seems I had at getting hired was going to the job fair in Port St. Lucie and getting a call from HR Dynamics. I never even heard from Piper HR.

    Advice to Management

Clean house on HR, do more job fairs.

    Pros

There really are no pros at this time. It is like a sinking ship.

    Cons

The good old boy mentality from the CEO down to his COO, Quality & Production Management team are running the place into the ground. No raises, no balance of family and work life, benefits going up with terrible health coverage. Lots of bullying going on and nobody does anything about it. Wants the community to think this is a great place to work when indeed it is just the opposite.

    Advice to Management

Grow up and be leaders instead of bullies.

I worked at Piper Aircraft (More than a year)

    Pros

Good people on the floor. Hard working trying to make good product. I would advise if you are a skilled person then look elsewhere. Unless you have family working here or enjoy cliques you won't like it here. Ideal place to work if you can't find anything else or are just looking for a paycheck.

    Cons

Bad management, cliques and nepotism is strong, wasteful spending on making management comfortable while production works with outdated tools and technology. High out of pocket for benefits, low to no raises or incentives for production. No growth incentive. It's a "do all you can do for the company while we walk all over you" environment.

    Advice to Management

The management is steering this company the same way Chrysler went. Until they open there eyes and quit patting themselves and fellow management on the back and start taking care of the production people this company will continue toward the road of another bankruptcy.

I worked at Piper Aircraft full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good introduction to structural design and manufacturing in the aerospace industry. Its a relatively small company, so you have the potential to do a lot.

    Cons

You'll probably get laid off. No concept of work-life balance. Avoid if possible

    Advice to Management

Get out of the strange world that is engineering in Florida. The rest of the world is nothing like your tiny bubble. Update yourself

    Cons

I worked at Piper Aircraft full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

While working as an intern at Piper, I didn't get to truly get immersed in the culture as I was only there a few short months but, I will say that it was a good opportunity for me personally.

    Cons

During my time at Piper, the "PiperJet" was the largest project for the engineering department. Unfortunately during my time there, this project was cancelled and the majority of my department was let go over the course of two months. My time spent there was little but it made me as a mechanical engineer realize how delicate the aircraft industry was so because of this experience, I haven't sought out this field since.

I have been working at Piper Aircraft full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

2013 Best Places to Work award for a reason. Company has many good characteristics and most people are good to work with.

    Cons

Ways of doing business are hoary with age. Company just cannot get modern. Long history of buddy-buddy relationships for promotion vs. merit.

    Advice to Management

Remember who you work for: yourself should not be at the top of the list.
