I have been working at Pitney Bowes full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The best thing is work life balance. It varies by area but in the corporate area, it is quite good. Most people can work remote and above average amount of time. The people are talented, the leadership is honest and direct. I am exposed to plenty of confidential information and have only seen people act with integrity.

    Cons

Pay for the non bonus eligible is not competitive enough. That is balanced for some with the work life flexibility but if you don't need that then you could probably get paid better elsewhere. Professional development is talked about a lot but there really isn't a lot of opportunity in most areas to develop. The company is struggling to reform the business and time is running out. So while leadership is optimistic, there just.hasn't been enough to celebrate

    Advice to Management

Do more to identify your talented professionals as well as para-professionals and make sure they are paid competitively and feel valued. There is a lot of effort to develop the executives. It seems if they do their job well (nothing spectacular) they are praised and rewarded but everyone else is pretty much ignored. How about given budgets for spot awards to Directors and above that manage staff.

I worked at Pitney Bowes as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

On site gym, and on site cafeteria. Data Mining team is small and very close knit.

    Cons

Data Mining team is in Shelton which is a really remote town. You will need a vehicle to get anywhere.

    Advice to Management

Probably aggregate the offices in Stamford, or to a larger city in CT.

I worked at Pitney Bowes full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Pays well, most people who work there are great at their jobs and friendly, get all the tools you need to do your job.

    Cons

Currently searching for a new direction for the company, a lot of random layoffs in past several years (but not for new hires) just removing older high paid people [yeah not good for them (or me) but if you're looking to go there you'll be good.

    Pros

Good benefits. Plenty of resources available to get your job done.

    Cons

Even after the reorganization, management is still top heavy.

    Advice to Management

Lighten up, there's still way too many chiefs.

    Pros

As an intern you work directly on projects and do real engineering from the beginning. You are assigned a mentor and often perform cross-functionally with other departments to get things done. Very good experience overall. Very relaxed environment.

    Cons

Very top heavy company. There is a lot of bureaucracy in the way of getting things done. There is a lot of "nickle and dimeing" when designing new products. Nontechnical management sometimes seemed detached from reality wit their requests and requirements.

    Advice to Management

Management does a good job of staying on top of things. Management is very flexible about scheduling issues and conflicts.

    Pros

As a co-op it was alot of fun and very laid back. The people were great. There were helpful and you learned alot. It was very hands on. People were willing to teach you and help you along. You get alot of real life projects.
Lunch was amazing. The facilities at Pitney Bowes was wonderful, there was a gym and 2 cafeterias and many vending machines. aside from that the electrical engineering dept had cookies on wednesdays and pizza on fridays.

    Cons

There were no intern programs, the morale at the time with the engineers was low.
Sometimes there wasnt much work to do.
I wish there was a mentor program or some sort of program for interns.

    Advice to Management

    Better communications with engineers
