I worked at Pittsburgh Glass Works full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The best thing about working here was that I got a paycheck.
There was one woman who was very helpful and supportive but that was it. HR was helpful too, had to go to them pretty often.

    Cons

So many. Management (not everyone) was hard to deal with. No training or onboarding provided, but you are expected to know how to do everything. Employees don't try to get to know each other or socialize. My manager enjoyed yelling at his employees but wouldn't let them speak back and want things done his way but wouldn't clearly explain what that was.

    Advice to Management

It's 2017! Make some updates. Free wifi is a great start

    Pros

Could have water at your station
    Lines went down sometimes
    Alright pay
If you needed overtime it's there
    Break

    Cons

Long Work hours 12 to 14
    Rude people
Very Hot 100 to 115 degrees
    Packing heavy windshields all day

    Advice to Management

They hire just anyone for this job. They can't keep people because it doesn't have good benefits

I have been working at Pittsburgh Glass Works full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The job itself is easy and pretty stress free. The pay is good for the area, especially considering there is no higher education requirement to get the job. You get an hour long lunch break that is paid, including two other 30-minute breaks. Benefits are good. Work a rotating schedule, so you'll get a print out of the days you work for the entire year and you only work half the year.

    Cons

The shifts are 12 hours, so they're long. Training isn't optimum so you'll have to figure a lot of stuff out on your own.

I have been working at Pittsburgh Glass Works full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The environment is much more friendly than it was in the past. It is still quite challenging, but now associates work together to solve problems.

    Cons

The usual automotive manufacturing hustle and bustle. Ongoing issues are swept under the rug, in favor of quick fixes--this will eventually back fire.

    Advice to Management

Keep treating employees well, to attract the talent we desperately need. Please focus on long term goals a little more.

I have been working at Pittsburgh Glass Works full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Enjoy the work, has great pay, health insurance and 401k, and of course cars will always need windows so job security (for now).

    Cons

Have seniority numbers that don't mean anything. Have junior people on daylight while senior people are stuck on night shift. And when asked about it was pretty much told either deal with it or there's the door!

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees like they matter!! The ones who show up and do the best they can get treated like crap!! And then you have people who show up and don't do a damn thing who get everything they want! And use the seniority like it actually means something!!! Quit screwing the senior guys!

    Pros

Pay and opportunities. A lot of good investment.

    Cons

Work like balance and churn from GO.

    Advice to Management

    Keep driving change and investing.

I have been working at Pittsburgh Glass Works full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Extremely organized, "a place for everything and everything in it's place" especially from a management perspective. It is easy to rely on stability given the level of organization that exists.

    Cons

Other that fact that the previous CEO was a tyrant, there are no complaints

    Business slowing down
