I worked at Pittsburgh Glass Works full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Not many... I walked out...... Been way way happier since. There are way better places to spend you working life.

    Cons

Management was horrid... no guidance...just condescending attitudes. Even the CEO doesn't care... You aren't people...you are numbers and when yours is up, they just find another... I'm surprised that they still exist... Just know what you're getting into if applying for a job... I mean REALLY know...

    Advice to Management

No advice will help. Mgmt doesn't listen, doesn't care. They are arrogant... Karma is real....

I have been working at Pittsburgh Glass Works full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Write your own check by working overtime. Paid breaks, overall easy work. Some fellow workers were good people. Some management was caring, but not many.

    Cons

Not much money if you don’t work overtime, but 12 hour schedule allows for plenty of time off, if you want to be broke. There is no advancement or opportunity for betterment.

    Advice to Management

Care about your people and not just your numbers.

  9. "DO NOT Waste Your Time!!!! HORRIBLE Place to Work!!!!!"

I worked at Pittsburgh Glass Works

    Pros

    You get a weekly check.

    Cons

You only get one ten minute break and a 20 MINUTE lunch. You are not paid well (even people who get hired on with PGW only make about $12 an hour with no raises). The atmosphere is atrocious!!! It is VERY ghettofabulous and unprofessional. They even play rap "music" over the loudspeakers on second shift. It is a crazy environment. Some of the people look like they stepped straight out of a rap video. 1st shift has... 70 people but they are not required to make their numbers (produce completed windshields). Second shift has a lot less (not sure how many) and are REQUIRED to make their numbers EVERY DAY---even if it means they have to stay late in order to do so. They are required to complete 19 racks/475 total windshields on their shift. A lot of people act like they don't want to work. Some people look at you with hate and contempt simply because you're not black. It is a HORRIBLE environment in which to try to work and make money.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the ghettofabulous folks. If they look like thugs, perhaps you should hire a better class of employee. Don't stand over your employees while they are working. They don't need a babysitter. Give people a 30 MINUTE lunch--that is customary. Pay people more money--ESPECIALLY those who know how to run all of the machines and are good at it. Hire more professional people.

I have been working at Pittsburgh Glass Works full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The pay and benefits are average or better with moderate increases annually unless you move up the ladder quickly. There is always plenty of challenging work to do, more than one can handle a lot of the time.

    Cons

There are many times that your job requirements are not clear and you're on your own to figure it out. Expectations are high and reward is minimal unless you want to dedicate your life to the company and move higher into management. This has chased a lot of good people with many years experience out the door in the past 8 or 9 years. Play their game and you will be golden, but what about your personal life?

    Advice to Management

Realize we are people, not just resources. Your managment practices have depleted so many experienced people. We don't all get the big bonuses for the high level of work, nor do we all want to play the game required to get them. We want to work hard, but not put the company first before family.
