I have been working at Plains Midstream full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Attempt at work life balance seems honest.

    Cons

If you look at any article on the worst mistakes management can make, Plains Midstream makes them all with a vengeance. Every. Single. One. They need to know that when you micromanage to this point, you create a workforce that does the minimum.

    Advice to Management

Take the time to hire a manager who could be a mentor; someone who really wants to do a good job- instead of someone who really really just wants to be a boss. You are creating a mess. A bad one.

I worked at Plains Midstream full-time

    Pros

The salary and benefits were competitive, as in average for the oil and gas industry. There is work stability given that it's a midstream company.

    Cons

Management is very old school, with processes lagging at least 5 years behind. The IT infrastructure is very weak, and therefore, a lot of money is spent on hiring employees for data entry. Varying levels of work-life-balance, surrounded by a culture of fearful employees.

    Advice to Management

Foster a healthier work environment where individuals are not fearful - then they will be motivated to work and achieve high potential.

I have been working at Plains Midstream full-time

    Pros

Employees paid well; which is a problem

    Cons

Company culture is about making money with little to no value towards their employee. Management would rather pay an employee to sit in a corner and do NOTHING to avoid laying them off. A strong culture of fear and intimidation; no leadership or employee development.

    Advice to Management

Please quit so REAL executive leaders can be hired!

I worked at Plains Midstream full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good pay and benefits as per the oil/gas industry

    Cons

No industry standards and process. If you are good in buttering to your lead/managers then you are safe. Which is very strange as skills does not matter.

    Advice to Management

Learn from industry and listen to employees. Be good leaders not managers.

I worked at Plains Midstream full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Able to learn a lot, not very structured.

    Cons

Terrible culture, nepotism is rampant, hockey players preferred regardless of skill, females not valued (not one got promoted in my time there), under qualified executives lashing out on a daily basis, long hours and weekends work expected at no additional compensation.

    Advice to Management

    Retire.

    I worked at Plains Midstream

    Pros

Good pay, benefits. The people are amazing and safety and transparency of the company's vision is quite apparent. The social club is pretty nice too, although the employee pays half.

    Cons

The culture at Plains is quite poor and the work life balance is sub-par. Be ready to work a lot of overtime and not get paid for it. It's hard to have a family or hobbies when you work here. There have been a flock of employees leaving the company in the past year, which isn't a good sign in this economy.

    Pros

Work was interesting and challenging Bonus structure was good Salary was decent Benefits were unparalleled

    Cons

So called colleagues back stab to get ahead No trust You are just another wheel in the cog to management and can be replaced at any time Micromanagement HR not to be trusted Forget about work life balance

    Advice to Management

Work on corporate culture from top down. Dual standards corrodes trust.
