I have been working at Plains Midstream full-time

    Pros

Some very smart people trying very hard to change status quo, passionate coworkers who want to deliver and make a difference

    Cons

There is blatant abuse and theft happening in a certain FG. You NEED to listen to the rumours about managers stealing time from the company, shirking duties, working reduced hours, taking mulitple extended leves leaving regularly on person time, and browbeating direct reports. Flex benefits being used tojustify theft of time and double standards. All ratings are impacted by this situation.

    Advice to Management

Please look closer and listne totrusted people, not those trying to hide what they're doing when other people in the company are very very busy and working extremely hard

    Pros

Great Money, Great Benefits , Flex days.. all monetary compensation is topnotch

    Cons

High pressure, competition between employees which creates a low trust environment, bosses that play favorites, rampant gossip, Incompetent Leadership mainly Directors and Vice presidents. Very young directors with no experience and great back stabbers. Engineering managers lack common sense and some of them can't even speak english.

    Advice to Management

Changes in Leadership is a must specially in capital projects.

I have been working at Plains Midstream full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Benefits are good, and has a nice gym in the building. The cleaning staff and maintenance staff in the building are the nicest people!

    Cons

Where to begin? The nepotism within the Company is outrageous! The only thing the exec. Team cares about is adding more to their team, not ensuring their hard working employees are happy. They had the nerve to basically say all employees should be grateful to work for this company, due to the companies “flexibility initiative”. Even with this, plains is still light years behind the modern work force. No opportunities...

    Advice to Management

Instead of beefing up the pockets of higher management, keep your worker bees happy and taken care of! Stop hiring relatives of management, whom are incompetent. Be grateful for your employees, not the other way around!

I have been working at Plains Midstream full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Never a dull moment. A lot of new challenges being thrown your way due to the wide variety of assets and acquisitions. Working on a flexibility initiative for 2018 (remains to be seen if anything will actually change). Decent gym (but hours are restricted). Good other benefits. An employee lounge for Friday drinks if you are into that kind of thing.

    Cons

Some “old school” executives that have trouble adapting to new realities of industry still around. New CEO has been a good change but hasn’t been able to get any positive momentum (partly due to market conditions). Have been cutting a lot of the things that made the company a preferred employer since 2015 (no annual salary increases, reduced flex days, no more quarterly bonus, long term incentive has been low to due stock...

    Advice to Management

Keep working on employee morale with workplace flexibility changes or retention will be a big problem if the market ever turns around. Work on communication to staff (getting better). Hire better people and you won’t have to fire as many, which seems to be too common relative to peer companies.

I have been working at Plains Midstream full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good salary, benefits and long term incentive programs, though they have been cutting benefits more and more recently. Quarterly bonuses were good; however they have now been changed to annual bonuses. The 10 Flex days per year are very nice to have. The actual work itself is good and challenging. The compensation overall is good if you are willing to put up with the politics, intimidation and poor management and if you...

    Cons

Bullying, intimidation and manipulation are tools largely used by the management here! Certain people in management or with ties to senior executives are making this company a very toxic workplace and they need to be removed!! If you work here, your hard work will never be appreciated; rather you will get an unexpected harsh conversation from your manager telling you that you do not put in enough overtime. In my experience,...

    Advice to Management

Stop treating your employee's like garbage; a little appreciation goes a long way. Get rid of management who are incompetent and/or treat their employees poorly / unfairly. This bullying attitude does not inspire morale and until this behavior is gone, you will continue to lose good, loyal, hardworking employees. Compensate employees who are willing to work overtime, extensive overtime should never be demanded, ESPECIALLY...

    Pros

Good money. It will actually shock you how much they pay people in this kind of Environment. which is good for people looking for extra money and don't mind the terrible culture

    Cons

No leadership, Unethical behaviour and poor integrity. VPs never take accountability, instead they place the blame on others. Low Morale, No Synergy, POOR Poor management and more and more fragmented departments. Sinking ship

    Advice to Management

Leadership is not about exerting control over employees, but about guiding and giving direction to others in order for them to grow and reach their true potential.

I worked at Plains Midstream full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Salary and perks during my time there, but I have heard that both were cut, for junior positions, cuts were dramatic.

    Cons

As indicated in the title, not for the fainted heart, smooch your way around in doing business, doing the right thing isn't necessary the right way, most important in delivery is how to help your senior leader get ahead and influence.

    Advice to Management

During my time there, there weren't much interaction with senior management. My department was critical in managing day to day technologies but many initiatives were put on hold for programs such as the RightAngle deployment. Many within and outside of the organizations believed that the technology leadership team is spending way too much time and effort to reorganize themselves and offshore their core functionality,...

I have been working at Plains Midstream full-time

    Pros

Pay and benefits are excellent even after cutbacks. There is a lot of good people working there, none of them happen to be in management though.

    Cons

Basically everything else. They outsourced their IT to India and the service turned out pretty much as you would expect.

    Advice to Management

Please resign and give this place a chance to survive instead of just hanging on for as many paycheques as possible while this ship slowly but surely sinks.
