Planit treats its staff as resources not people

Jul 7, 2019 - Test Analyst in Auckland, Auckland

      Pros

      - They do offer some training if they think it will be good for your Planit 'CV' - Attempt to host social events - Exposure to multiple clients

      Cons

      - They charge out their staff at about 2-3 times the salary of the staff member, meaning the client will get a contractor doing the 1/3 the quality of work that would be expected - The social environment is the definition of a boys club. The conversation is often vulgar and can remember at least one time when the CEO of the company made quite racists comments in regard to an Indian staff member. - They force their staff to pay a 'bond' if they leave within a certain period of time, quoting training costs. - In NZ they take their Kiwisaver contribution out of your pay. This is dubiously legal. - There is very little career progression.

From an Uni Student to a Professional Tester - I'm living in the dream

      Pros

      - For those who just graduated from university/school. Planit offers the greatest opportunity to start their career life from zero to hero. - I can see my career path has been successfully built throughout the past three years at Planit and I can also see that into the future with more opportunities awaiting. - 100% support from seniors and management both in work and personal life. I couldn't ask more from them. - Prompt response from HR/Bench Manager/Office Manager regarding all sort of questions. I am being well looked after with their kind support. - Well organised events including function and social events make me feel like Planit is a big family instead of an organisation: nothing is better than working in a family like environment. - The office culture where I come from is full of politics and mind games. Planit does not have anything like that which I can focus on my job 100% without any distraction.

      Cons

Can't really name any downside - I'm living in the dream of both professional and personal life to be honest. :) Maybe that Xmas/NY shutdown period could be shorter so I can save a bit of more A/L days for the later of the year?

A young company that is growing its presence in the UK

      Pros

A vibrant company which is reaching out and giving people their first opportunity to enter the IT & Test sector. You are the master of your own destiny. You get what you put in. Plenty of support is available, but you need to be proactive and ask for it. They are an experienced Australian company founded by Brits but the UK office is still in its infancy so there is an opportunity to be there at the beginning and see the company grow. There are lots of training opportunities. This really is often something that is undervalued. Take advantage of it. Team social events and there is a real feeling that they are trying to build a community. Varied work to get your teeth stuck into

      Cons

The pipeline of new work isn't quite there yet There needs to be more focus on UK centric process - (something that is being addressed)

      A Buzzing Technology Company

      Pros

Lots of exciting growth at Planit, accompanied by a multitude of opportunities on a global basis Plenty of company benefits - training courses, retail discounts and bi-annual company social events Senior management team are very approachable and down-to-earth The culture at Planit is inclusive and sociable; regardless of where you work or at what level you work, your voice will always be heard and respected A really exciting time to be a part of team Planit, with massive growth experienced over the past couple of years and anticipated to continue for the foreseeable future Very hard-working back office teams to assist employees at each and every step of their career

      Cons

The office space in Sydney feels a little too crowded now that the company have experienced so much growth. More meeting rooms and office space is needed to facilitate the ever-increasing headcount.

      Cons

      - Below average pay across all levels - Once you are assigned to a client, management pretty much forget about you
