I worked at Planned Parenthood full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Colleagues are very nice and locations are good

    Cons

The managers kept telling you that you need to work longer hours. They don't really care about you. The resource is very limited as well which leads to huge amount of manual work.

    Pros

I truly enjoyed working there. We were like family. I worked with a great team. Made many friends.

    Cons

You think your family until they start getting rid of you. People that have been there many years have been let go. Many great people have left because of the people running it now. It use to be a great place to work.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your people so that your people can take care of you.

I worked at Planned Parenthood full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great group of people to work with. Very up to date on best practice for women's and sexual health. Experts in the field.

    Cons

Constantly changing protocols and lower pay rates. Different policies across states. But still not a bad place overall.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you guys are doing but consider paying a little bit more . Standardize facilities- some are awesome and some are not.

I think that the mission is great and the I think that the staff gets along very good. The hours are ok.

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees with the respect they deserve.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Planned Parenthood full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Very committed, long-term, on the ground staff who go above and beyond to fulfill the mission of making every family a healthy family. The benefit the organization provides to the community is outstanding and undisputed.

    Cons

The org is chronically understaffed, there is horrific staff moral, and bad seeds are allowed to remain. (Some of whom sit on management team.) If you have a family, and you are trying to work your way up, regardless of how much you produce, don't expect it to be flexible without punitive action. HR cannot address concerns even with proof of a hostile workplace; everything stops with the CEO.

    Advice to Management

Make your management team reflective of where the organization needs to be in 10 years--Promote a competent staffer under 50 (of which there are many) and groom them for leadership and succession. Ensure the Board sees the accurate financial picture and address the discrepancies between the organization's mission to its clients and ensure it includes staff.

I worked at Planned Parenthood as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great cause, committed employees, laudable services, varied departments, valuable career stepping stone, brand recognition

    Cons

Organization is overly large and not streamlined, low pay, young and inexperienced staff, supervisors can be unavailable due to broad responsibilities, limited interdepartmental communication leads to duplicated services, ageism

    Advice to Management

Be more in contact with your staff, especially those in non clinical departments. Focus on community involvement and fundraising, as is common and productive in non California PPA agencies. Reach out to your volunteers and create volunteer trainings. Investigate departmental ageism.

    Pros

Great benefits. Moving to EMR is a plus and innovative. Competent and engaging doctors, nurses and health service specialists

    Cons

My negative reviews are a result of my direct manager. She created a division in the team and did not support my program and our achievements.
