    Pros

Wonderful staff, great benefits and paid days off. Got to participate in many research studies and community programs.

    Cons

Pay scale is very low and raises are hard to get. Can get gossipy between staff at times.

Love the patients and mission, but leadership is failing

Oct 2, 2021 - Healthcare Assistant in Akron, OH

    Pros

I love my patients. For the most part they're lovely. I love my team in the actual healthcenter. We're all in this together and support each other and lift each other up. And I love the mission, educating people on women's and reproductive health and helping correct misconceptions or harmful beliefs.

    Cons

Leadership is so out of touch. They keep pushing for more services, more expansion, more everything without adjusting compensation or staffing or patient scheduling or providing even adequate training. Appointments every 10 minutes, no matter what it's for. IUD removal and reinsertion? Breast exam? Suspected herpes outbreak? Concerned about birth control side effects? Routine STI screening? Everything is 10 minutes. Pay is not competitive and honestly insulting for the amount of work and responsibility they expect of us. $15 starting wage and expect an HCA to become competent in desk in, desk out, intake of patients, manage labs, educate patients effectively on birth control and STDs and diabetes and hypertension and any other women's health questions, draw blood and give injections and medications, manage and correct billing and scheduling errors, answer tasks and patient questions from the call center, double book for non-urgent visits, take all walk-ins on a full schedule, and see upwards of ten patients an hour. And then if they're lucky, they'll be bumped to $17 in two years. Absolute awful handling and support for COVID. Admin all went to work at home and wouldn't even come into the health centers for training of new services or audits, but expected health center staff to continue seeing non-urgent visits with inadequate PPE and to see patients with respiratory symptoms or exposure.

    Bad experience

Jul 12, 2022 - Health Center Assistant in North County, MO

    Pros

The pay was good but not enough for all the job tasks they have you do.

    Cons

All the mangers at the clinics are very selfish and don’t care about there employees and they don’t have nobody you can go to if you have a work conflict with your manager so you just work here with no support from HR

    Pros

You are working for a good cause. Fun work environment. Fast paced work environment

    Cons

Pay is not enough for the amount of work and living expenses in SF Bay Area. No outlined ways to move up in the company.

    Pros

Job will keep you very busy. There is always a demand for your assistance, and opportunities to show your growth through duty. Company has steady growth opportunities to move up the ladder. Great modus operandi to continually educate their staff. I learned so much there throughout the years because of a tough environment, peers, and management which will teach you to be flexible.

    Cons

Pay is not consistent for a good quality of living for a RHA despite the amount of work you will do. 11-12$ an hour.

    Great clinic and manager staff

Nov 20, 2016 - CMA in Des Moines, IA

    Business Outlook

    Pros

The staff in the clinics including the managers are great. Fun to work with and they care about the patients.

    Cons

The CEO and higher up managers are horrible. They base your raise on if people no show for appointments. They make it your fault people don't show up. It's getting to be all about money and not staff anymore. They don't make patients take responsibility for anything. You have to bend over backwards for them even if they are an hour late for the appointment. The patients run the clinic not the staff. It does not pay well at all and CMA 's are treated poorly. They treat them like the only thing we can do is a shot and they pay you like it too. It's too bad it's like that. I miss the staff I worked with.

    Pros

Lots of opportunities to help on projects, work independently and good feedback.

    Cons

Because it's a nonprofit salary and pay of course aren't spectacular but that's to be expected.

    Cons

    Abusive Work Environment

    Jun 10, 2021 - Anonymous Employee

    Business Outlook

    Pros

The greatest benefit gained from working at PPGP was the connections and relationships I made with front line staff. The organizers, educators, and clinic staff are by far the most dedicated, hard working, bright, empathetic, caring, self aware, and powerful leaders I've ever had the privilege of working alongside. Other than that, through trial by fire, I was grateful to eventually learn that PPGP is NOT an organization that should be representative of what true reproductive justice advocacy should look like.

    Cons

Inequitable pay structures; the CEO made a quarter of a million dollars while front line staff often made nearly poverty level wages. Classism was often upheld by promoting folks into leadership with little to no leadership experience but with advanced academic backgrounds. Leadership often employed bullying and emotional manipulation/abuse. The only gender and race diversity that exists is among front line staff who are coincidentally paid the least. The organization as a whole continuously failed to further the community engagement and allyship that is essential to reproductive justice activism. Overall, this organization taught me what a repro organization does NOT look like.
