Gained communication and patient care experience. I learned how to move and make decisions fast and used my nursing skills.

The support for advancement is not there also management needs development in communication with employees and clients also people need proper training before starting.

Most management is very cool. You can do almost whatever you want at your desk. Co-workers are a lot of fun. You feel good for helping people out all day.

Cons

Large divide between people who work in the clinics and think they're better than everyone else and the people in the call center. Sometimes you feel like just a number to the upper management. Computer use is very very closely monitored, don't ever check your facebook at work :P

Most of the other RHAs I worked with were some of the most caring and genuine people I have ever met.

Helping people everyday and feeling like I was fighting for what I believed in was really all that kept me going. I worked in a bilingual position, so it kept my language skills sharp. I liked working with minors, women, and marginalized communities to help provide for their most basic needs.

Cons

Low pay. Vacation time accruals is a joke. Management has horrible ethics. Unprofessional behavior and language, judgement of patients is rampant despite the fact that Planned Parenthood is supposed to be a safe, judgement free place. Moving up isn't very within reach, unless you brown nose and stay forever.

It is an amazing organization and they are very kind to their employees.

Can be extremely frustrating work; there are so many people opposed that it constantly feels like an uphill battle.

Really amazing team of people because you are working with folks who really care about the mission.

They are constantly using the mission of "providing access" as a reason (guilt trip) for why it's ok to over-work, under-pay, and deny time-off to employees in the health center.

Surrounded by great people who care deeply for the communities they serve and jump in to help in creative and unexpected ways.

Dealing with ignorance, stigma, and lies about the organization from certain people. Also, this is not a rich organization and the budget is very tight every single year.

Great center manager always had a good attitude! Very clean clinic and very private for patients. Great clinicians that were very good with patients needs.

People forget the true meaning of planned parenthood. A lot of responsibilities and not enough pay. And some people who work there were very unhappy which made other staff members unhappy.

Working directly with the people receiving the services and being part of a bigger picture in the reproductive rights movement.

Majority of senior management (with the exception of the CEO, COO and Medical director) was lazy and incompetent, looking for ways to cut corners and meet deliverables on paper. Toxic work environment where people were looking out for themselves and not the bigger picture. There is a huge pay discrepancy between senior management and everyone else.

Pros

Mission, co-workers, schedule. Namely I enjoyed the actual on the ground work that we were doing helping people from all sorts of backgrounds.

Cons

The pay was barely enough to live off of. I kept having to remind myself that the money I wasn't making in salary was basically a donation to the agency.
