Hi there! I interview for a position with a planned Parenthood this week for a role as Special Events Manager to oversee their fundraising department. Because most of my work and experience has been in freelance. I’m having a hard time figuring out what my work experience translates to in a Salary position. Therefore, I wonder what my base pay should be. Does anyone have any experience in the role?

Repro Justice Work, but no care for employees

Oct 31, 2021 - Medical Receptionist in Eugene, OR

    Business Outlook

    Pros

middle managers were great (if not overworked), benefits were overall okay (after you have been there for 6 months), work hours generally didn't fluctuate

    Cons

Terrible CEO and upper management who only care about money, no pay increases/reviews, no DEI, very okay with overworking staff or sending staff home early and forcing them to use their PTO, long wait times for patients due to extreme understaffing (most of the time 1 practitioner and 2 medical assistants for a full day), lack of respect towards the union, harassment of employees... the list goes on. Don't fall for the trap of "care for all" because they do not care about their employees, only about exploiting for compassion for reproductive justice.

    Takes Advantage of Well-Meaning People

Oct 30, 2021 - Health Center Assistant in Denver, CO

    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Rewarding, good benefits package, lots of PTO

    Cons

Very low wages for the workload, toxic work environment/gossipy and sometimes downright cruel colleagues, pressure to donate part of your tiny paycheck back to the organization, lack of understanding from HR/upper management as to how the health care center should be run/harassment from protestors

Disappointing. Management is not interested in changing what doesn’t work for operations.

Jul 15, 2021 - Clinician in Hartford, CT
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

    Provide care to underserved populations

    Cons

Not a culturally diverse staff. Upper management has no clue about what goes on in the clinics and they are not interested in knowing. They are only concerned about profits. Bandaid care is provided to patients due to time constraints of visits (10 min visits). Mistakes are treated as punitive and not used as teachable moments regardless of severity; which doesn’t foster learning staff development, team building or quality improvement.

Your work day was hell if management was in a bad mood

Dec 13, 2020 - Patient Access Representative in Tacoma, WA
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Providing reproductive health to those who need it. Really came through for patients during pandemic for birth control and STD testing when their providers wouldn’t see them. The actual staff was super amazing and worked well together outside of management.

    Cons

You didn’t whether your manager was going to be in a sour mood or be tolerable to be around each day. Pay was okay, benefits and paid time off were amazing. Mistreatment from upper management if they just didn’t like someone. Management wouldn’t acknowledge you if you did something wrong and would “snub” you for a week or until you called them out. High turn around rate in department due to management’s snobby attitude. Oh and care no matter what means if you have Medicaid, health insurance or cash in your pocket.

    Would not recommend

Aug 11, 2021 - Call Center Customer Service Representative in New Haven, CT
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

The company offers excellent health, dental, and vision insurance, and provides a great contribution to our health savings account. You pay very little for insurance monthly.

    Cons

The compensation is very low for the amount of work you are expected to do. Upper management can be very unfriendly. You do not feel respected by other people in the organization.

    Disappointed

Jul 14, 2021 - Anonymous Employee in Rochester, NY

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Half of front end/low level management staff are nice, welcoming and willing to help. Possible career advancements opportunities. One or two departments are wonderful to work for.

    Cons

Lack of training. Lack of care for their patients. Lack of care for their staff in upper management. There are multiple small groups "clicks" in each branch which brings an unwelcoming environment causing high turnover. Lack of communication throughout the company in general. Needs more diversity. I hope it gets better because some departments are wonderful to work for.
