    Pros

    Decent physical environment in most cases. Some good personalities in IT. Possibly the most sane atmosphere of Santa Cruz. Some flexible working for those in the right clique.

    Cons

    Beautiful environment but people packed in somewhat tightly.

    Fragmented global channel partner strategy, difficult to get promoted as no one ever leaves.

    Advice to Management

    Fix your channel partner strategy on a global basis across both B2B and B2C. Invest in global channel operations.

    I have been working at Plantronics as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Plantronics treats their employees well- especially on the sales team, there is lots of training and encouragement from the management team, advice from mentors, and lenient when personal obligations come up. The internship program specifically is very well designed to expose college students to the corporate environment and provide mentorship from the executives.

    Cons

    I have not experienced any negative experiences so far in my time at Plantronics. The sales team especially has proven to be a cohesive, communicative team.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing what you're doing! I love the fact that management is approachable, and as a young professional its easy to get advice from the top of the company.

    I worked at Plantronics full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    They have good benefits and the people who aren't management are really great. They have been around for along time and they do good innthe community.

    Cons

    When I first started, Plantronics was a great company to work for but then management changed and it got really bad. The products went downhill and they started outsourcing jobs to Mexico. They laid off about 200 people last year.

    Advice to Management

    Bring jobs back to Santa Cruz and bring focus bwck to good customer service and good products. It's sad to see a company that has been around for so long go so down hill.

    Cons

    When bonuses are funded, or bad decisions are made, the older more experienced workers are the first to be downsized, as of late.

    Consider your experience base to be more valued than you do.

    Pros

    Management team gives enough freedom and resources to the right technical associate to make the right technical decisions.
    Great culture ; Very open communication. The higher level leadership stays down to earth and promotes exemplary culture of listening to employees; Treating employee's personal life as equally important. Not a sweat shop.
    Pretty good benefits- free cell phone plans.
    The focus on innovating with the money made from headsets is courageous for a 50 something old company.
    No micromanagerial issues with middle management.
    Lots of freedom on where and when to work.
    People free lots of pride in working for the legacy company which leads the enterprise headset space and competing well in the lifestyle segment as well.
    Outstanding HQ office facilities with generous conference room space and outdoor locations/landscapes to meet work etc. And, a nice gym as well.

    Cons

    Still an old company big enough that bringing in best tools and best practices in processes is slow or doesn't happen quick.
    Not aggressive enough on getting ROI on new ventures (like Software) which makes it feel threatening.
    Predominant development work has happened and still happens with the offshore team; So, its hard to define core design and promote best practices. The company is trying to change that with hiring more in Austin office. Still long ways to go to change the fraction.
    Promotions and career advancement might be tricky since management has less objectivity on who does the more complex work versus just talking technical in the engineering teams.
    Still trying to do software; yet to become a cloud service company that is focussed on revenue of its BU.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good leadership qualities of promoting good associate ethics and a great culture valuing work life balance, smarter meetings, liberal working remote policies etc.
    Focus on making R and D in local offices a priority for the best innovations to happen. Less offshore work. Majority of work has to happen locally to have enough technical vision driven by full time senior engineering.
    Keep experimenting courageously with new revenue areas.

    Friendly atmosphere, excellent products, gorgeous interior decor, healthy mindset.

    Cons

    There are some politics, a lot of people from Cisco being hired and changing the culture, making it less friendly.

    Advice to Management

    Think deeply about the kind of environment you want to create for your employees. Hiring large company executives may change the culture toward a more political and demeaning atmosphere, which may demotivate your employees.

    Pros

    Excellent company culture that embraces openness and respect for all individuals. Phenomenal corporate campus and office facilities. Unlimited PTO, flexible work from home policy, and overall great sense of work-life balance. Surprisingly cool, interesting, and well-designed products. World-class summer internship program.

    Cons

    Compensation levels aren't competitive with the market, making it hard to retain high-achievers in the technology industry. 55 year old company in transition from once being a headset manufacturer to a wearables, cloud software, and IoT company means lots of growing pains (antiquated processes, skills gaps, etc.) but things are heading in the right direction when I left.

    Advice to Management

    Execute on new product growth initiatives quickly, grow revenue, compensate talented high achievers well so world class talent can be retained.
