I worked at Plastic Omnium full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Large, global organization with promising growth on the horizon. Clean and safe work environment in the manufacturing plants. Ability to learn and grow in the organization. Excellent benefits offerings.

    Cons

Imabalanced workloads and organizational structure in some departments leads to poor work/life balance for many individuals in the organization. Time management is a challenge because there are too many mandated, long, and unproductive meetings. Leadership in the organization is focused on the wrong things at many times. Some leaders are hiring individuals into management positions who are arrogant and unqualified for...

    Advice to Management

Evaluate your leadership team in North America, specifically in the Auto Inergy Division. Review your voluntary turnover metrics and see the trend in certain departments in the Troy office (as well as the correlating functional relationships to these departments in the plants). People typically don’t leave jobs; they leave their manager/leader.

I have been working at Plastic Omnium full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Good pay, benefits, and policies. Most departments in the Auto Inergy division are run extremely well.

      Cons

Some upper management (director level) are incredibly unprofessional and completely lack people skills. Firing people simply because they aren't a "yes-man/woman" is not healthy for the workplace, but it's something the company turns a blind eye too.

      Advice to Management

Despite how good someone might seem on paper, if they don't have the soft skills to have people WANT to work for them, there will be issues. If a department is experiencing a higher turnover rare comparatively, find and rectify the problem before more issues arise.

I worked at Plastic Omnium full-time for less than a year

      Pros

Great hours and base pay. Averaged about 56 hours a week.

      Cons

Mandatory overtime, but lends itself to make more money as a result. Sundays are double-time too assuming it's your 7th work day that week.

      Advice to Management

You guys were awesome while I worked there!

I have been working at Plastic Omnium full-time

      Pros

The insurance is one of the best I have ever had and the pay rate is so good I am having a hard time finding something else that pays as good.

      Cons

management does not communicate with the production staff. They are to concerned with making themselves look good to help anyone else move up. Some managers will walk all over you and do things behind your back to make things happen in their favor. They do not care about their employees life outside of work hours are not what they advertise.

      Advice to Management

Get you head out of other managements rear and do something to actually help your team to succeed. If the team succeeds then that is how you will look good. Take care of your people don’t neglect them . Tell the truth.

I worked at Plastic Omnium full-time for less than a year

      Pros

Overtime was readily available for the most part. Fellow peers and upper management were more than accommodating. Physical requirements to perform job were not too taxing.

      Cons

The upward movement within the company seemed very lacking and stale. The repetition of the job became very boring and unexciting quick. Cleaning up during down time was also ridiculously boring

      Advice to Management

Be more open with lower employees about company direction and current/future promotion opportunities

I have been working at Plastic Omnium full-time for more than 3 years

      Pros

The salary, the benefits are slightly above average for the industry

      Cons

Management fall well short of their circumstances at all levels, something almost unheard of for this industry. There is no commitement to training, teamwork, support The group at the Troy headquarters is like a group of individuals working as individuals and often against each other

      Advice to Management

The management currently at the Troy location is simply not able to perform their duties at almost any level which has made the place be a revolving door of Employees. Advise: A whole new management group of people is needed as the current one simply cannot rise to any occasion

Long shift hours over 12 per day, management (not supervisors) are slow to deal with issues. Excessively lean.
