    Pros

Fairly Flexible schedules and ability to work overtime

    Cons

Management isn't fully concerned with personal issues that may effect your work life indirectly. They do not have an issue stating that you are "too old" or that you don't "dress hip enough", they also often times would tell female employees that they looked ill if they didn't wear their normal amount of make-up, it was made a verbal rule that "if you usually wear make-up continue doing so when you're working for or representing the company".

    Advice to Management

Respect the employees and they're more likely to love where they work, if you expect something specific from an employee, verbalize it with them directly instead of making snide or rude remarks.

I worked at Plato's Closet part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are discounts on items and accessories! as well as first pick. I was working with an excellent manager.

    Cons

After my manager left there was a lot of tension. the main manager would leave for most of the day and come back with shopping bags and Jamba Juice saying she needed to go to the bank. the hiring process seems to be a popularity contest rather than a professional work environment. I would say there is a bit of a stereotype as well I did not fit this stereotype so I was ostracized and bullied by upper management. When i called the CEO no one came out to investigate what was happening. i was a victim for about six months until I found another job. I was told on one occasion to pick up lunch for my new manager or I would be fired. There is a very high employee turn over rate. I was also not allowed sick days, when i was throwing up they would not allow me to leave until my shift was over, but management is allowed to leave if they feel ill.

    Advice to Management

I would stop bullying the staff, start trusting employees or you will never be a team.

I have been working at Plato's Closet full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decent yearly wage for position- $40,000
    Possibility for monthly bonuses

    Cons

No work life balance, work an average of 50 hours a week onsite and receive average of 5 to 15 calls per day on off days.
Too many chiefs with no collaboration so you never know what is expected. You are told something by one person one day and the next day another tells you to ignore that and do this, then the first person gets mad that you did not do as told.
Owner is quick to go off on you and yell at you without knowing the facts.

    No insurance or benefits

I worked at Plato's Closet part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decent discount on already cheap clothes, free food once in a while

    Cons

Lack of leadership, little to no room for growth, management is rude and does not follow through with their word, no communication from management to staff, trashy customers

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees fairly...you are not better because you have a year or two more retail experience because they do. The general manager needs to be less catty towards her staff and stop having favorites among her keyholders. When someone expresses their unhappiness with how they are being treated, value their feelings instead of shoving them off as if they are nothing. With your turnover rate you should attempt to hold on to what little of a staff you have. You should also go through with the incentives you promise employees instead of backtracking your statement.
