    Pros

Decent starting job. Flexible hours, for example, if you're going to school. Cool work environment if you're into sports and retail.

    Cons

Pay isn't great. When store is slow the job can be downright miserable, luckily that's only a few months per year. Usually have to work weekends

I worked at Play It Again Sports (Less than a year)

    Pros

Diversity of knowledge needed about most mainstream sports. When I started my knowledge of sports was pretty broad, but while working at Play It Again Sports my knowledge had grown about certain equipment associated with certain sports.

    Cons

Do not really have anything negative to say about the company itself, but the management I had within the store left a lot to be desired. The store I was employed at closed down permanently, the manager went to another store, but was eventually terminated from the company.

    Pros

With the right management & sales vision, and business you can truly grow at.

    Cons

If owners aren't willing to stock new product it can be a tough sell.

    Advice to Management

Analyze new products to fit your community & stay ahead of the curve on adapting when required.

    Pros

Self employed 15 years. Great job helping customers with fun purchases!

    Cons

Landlord and franchise management combined make owning a franchise and renting a building almost impossible.

    Advice to Management

The definition of insanity is: continuing to do the same thing and expect a different result.

I worked at Play It Again Sports (More than a year)

    Pros

It has a relatively light work load being a sales associate. The manager and regional manager were both very helpful and fun to work with.

    Cons

The pay is very bad, its minimum wage, but you get out what you put it. Not much opportunity for advanced, not a career job but if you want to get your foot in the door with sales experience it's not a bad place to start. Also, very outdated on technology.

    Advice to Management

The inside of the stores look very rundown and sloppy. I would invest on bettering the overall presences.

    Pros

Fun place to work if you're into sports and/or fitness. My location was laid back, so I had a great time with my co-workers. A good first job. Good for young people. (High School/College). If you enjoy bargaining with customers it can be fun as well. (This doubles as a con when you end up dealing with difficult customers).

    Cons

Is a franchise, so if you have some poor owners it can go downhill pretty quick. Starting pay is pretty low. You end up cleaning a lot of old sporting equipment. Can be stressful when you're buying equipment and have to negotiate prices with upset customers.

    Advice to Management

Case to case basis due to varying ownership of locations.

    Pros

Made lots of great friends and relationships. Questionable ownership but overall a fun and fast paced sales environment. Recommend it for a first job

    Cons

Some ownership decisions about what product should be in which stores were questionable. Had to constantly pull stock from other stores to keep our store stocked.
