Point B offers associates the ability to work in a variety of client settings. Each engagement is unique which enables associates to expand and grow.

    Pros

    Very smart, engaging people
    Nice work atmosphere
    Some great clients
    Has well defined culture

    Cons

Strategic reorg of company is creating a lot of unnecessary hierarchy diminishing the associate experience.

Do a better job of looking at asociate experience especially when major changes are going on. Keep focus of company on those doing client service delivery.

Honest attempt to do the right thing for customers

    Cons

Entrenched core set of people who have undue control

    Advice to Management

Mike, consider hiring a CEO and go back to being the COO.

"Work-life balance can be real, but it's not inexpensive."

Former Employee - Senior Associate in Seattle, WA

    Pros

Flexibility, ability to take unpaid time off, work-life balance. Excellent client roster can make for very interesting projects (though not always).

    Cons

Limited opportunity for advancement within the firm due to flat org structure (almost everyone is a Senior Associate). Comp is rather flat too, unless you bring in a lot of business. Most important decisions made in a black box, including annual bonus. Limited intereaction with peers since there's no offices and all project work is done at the client's site. Hourly rates are competitive, but when you factor in benefits (minimal), PTO (none), bonus (limited), 401k matching (none), and profit sharing (none), it's hard to envision a long-term road to retirement -- unless you're one of the three partners, or the handful of managing directors.

    Advice to Management

Increased transparency in decision-making, compensation structure, bonus. Profit sharing.

    Pros

Good work life balance. Work can be very interesting depending on the client you get staffed at. The company culture is great and has fun outings on a yearly basis to get away and celebrate with co-workers.

    Cons

Lack of strategic leadership and transparency of where the firm is headed. Haven't lived up to the growth plan set in place and it's hard to follow how we plan to grow. Lack of staffing direction and understanding of why candidates are proposed for certain roles and not others.

    Advice to Management

Invest more in your people and help to develop and grow early career candidates. Help to better align the leaders in the firm with early career candidates to help build skills necessary to thrive in consulting.

I worked at Point B full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Eligible to take LOA between projects. You're mostly left to your own devices, w/o interference. Folks are very experienced and have been open with information and help.

    Cons

No paid vacation. Long commutes. Bad buyers; and they continue to purchase from them. Complex payment structure and resistance to raises and bonuses. If you want more pay, focus is on more hours rather than rate increase.
Work is very PM oriented... I have a hard time distinguishing the work from staff augmentation.

    Advice to Management

Would be nice if you stood up for consultants in the face of difficulty.
