I worked at Point Park University part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Keeps mind sharp for future, helping fellow students, decent pay

    Cons

Not a ton of hours to go around, as expected for a job like this at a school this size

    Advice to Management

Maybe keep your staff a little tighter so the people who can take the hours can have as many as they want

I worked at Point Park University full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The people were amazing- from the professors and lecturers I worked directly with to the HR staff to the cafe counter servers. Everyone had a great attitude and was giving, willing to help, and all around pleasant to deal with. The benefits were awesome. I felt valued as a person and frankly, I was sad to leave.

    Cons

I took the job knowing the pay was nowhere near what I was worth becasue it was in a city I loved. I just couldn't do it it any more and had to think of myself first. If they could have afforded me, I would never have left.

    Pros

Decent vacation policy; tuition remission exchange

    Cons

bad tools force a lot of unnecessary, error-prone work; lots of time spent meticulously double checking work because of unreliable systems; management does not care about corrosive culture and incivility

    Advice to Management

    replace yourselves

    Pros

The campus is a reasonable size and generally the facilities are clean. Students are helpful and what one would expect from a private American university.

    Cons

Department turn over is constant. Fiscal responsibilities are clandestine and cult-like. Vision is obscure across campus. And executive team's are oblivious to the real needs.

    Advice to Management

The lack of empathy and innovation is making the entire University remain small and taste very bland.

I worked at Point Park University full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great work environment. Good supervisors who treat you well, but are limited by budget constraints

    Cons

Workload is poorly distributed, some tradesmen have more work than can safely be done by one person, and pleas for assistance consistently go unanswered. Parking too costly for hourly employees

    Advice to Management

Be open to hiring an assistant.

    Pros

The best parts of working here are a fun environment and good people. Also a great location in the city.

    Cons

The pay does not equal the cost of parking in the middle of a busy city. That said it is a great place to work. Just the proice of parking and low pay

    Advice to Management

The advice for the management would be some kind of substidised parking or higher pay or both would be good overall a great place to work and live in a great city

    Pros

The staff, faculty and students are great to work with. The community is friendly. There is an easier workload in the summer months.

    Cons

Certain times of the year are very busy and hectic. You are expected to respond immediately to any questions which can be difficult sometimes.

    Advice to Management

My advice to management is to listen to employee wants and give them some perks. Otherwise, no other advice at this time.
