I have been working at Polar Semiconductor full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Days off. 3 to four day weekends are really nice. Great team atmosphere and very friendly co-workers. pay is ok and there are opportunitys for additional overtime.

    Cons

Management is obsessed with quantity. At the same time, mistakes, especially when they cause scrap, are all managers seem to notice. They seem to see all the mistakes but nothing that you do right.

I worked at Polar Semiconductor full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Low Key - people aren't in your face
Lots of opportunities (They're really "broken")

    Cons

    "Wack a Mole"
Work on something and then get moved to something else
No value from original work cause you didn't get to finish it.
No accountability from too many re-org's which hide management problems
Cheap on long term facility decisions
Spend $300M on the site and don't get the o-ring for the garden hose.
These dumb decisions only hurt the long term operation of facility

    Advice to Management

You wouldn't you buy a car that was drowned in a Hurricane.
Why buy really really used equipment?
    Finish what you started

    Advice to Management

Work with the employees, they're not robots.

I worked at Polar Semiconductor full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Floating holidays every three months are great, so is the break time.

    Cons

Engineers are arrogant and think all fab operators are un-educated, they need to train their higher level managers and engineers on how to work with diverse employees.

    Advice to Management

Offer tuition reimbursements to your weekend employees to make them stay at least 4 years. (That's better than having them for a year). Tuition for any school.

    Pros

Polar Semi is generally a good place with lots of generally good people. the people at polar are hard working and honestly want the company to succeed.

    Cons

Polar semi conductor is a small player in a big industry. This makes many things challenging. The industry requires lots of specialization so you won't have a bunch of other people to help you solve problems a challenge but also an opportunity.

    Advice to Management

there is no single thing that will make anything great, treat people well, listen to the customer, expect regimented consistency and extreme flexibility and be clear about which to use when.
