    Pros

Polar Semi is generally a good place with lots of generally good people. the people at polar are hard working and honestly want the company to succeed.

    Cons

Polar semi conductor is a small player in a big industry. This makes many things challenging. The industry requires lots of specialization so you won't have a bunch of other people to help you solve problems a challenge but also an opportunity.

    Advice to Management

there is no single thing that will make anything great, treat people well, listen to the customer, expect regimented consistency and extreme flexibility and be clear about which to use when.

I worked at Polar Semiconductor full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Floating holidays every three months are great, so is the break time.

    Cons

Engineers are arrogant and think all fab operators are un-educated, they need to train their higher level managers and engineers on how to work with diverse employees.

    Advice to Management

Offer tuition reimbursements to your weekend employees to make them stay at least 4 years. (That's better than having them for a year). Tuition for any school.

    Pros

Great company to work with. It's a place where you can be physically fit and motivated to work.

    Cons

I really admire the work of human resource and all the other staff workers as they put 100% effort to work and make the best US products.
    I am proud of them.

I have been working at Polar Semiconductor (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice benefits package for the company size. Base pay is getting better. Some nice peers to work with.

    Cons

Management is reactive instead of forward thinking and proactive. Pay still needs to come up a little more for in fab employees.

I have been working at Polar Semiconductor full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Location, other than that nothing really interesting.

    Cons

Ton of work for a pay of little. The manager and supervisors are always on your shoulder even though they have a tracking record of your work. This company is selling junk to their customers. There is no place for quality only numbers. It doesn't matter how you do it the management want numbers.

    Advice to Management

None , I am thinking these people are deaf, arrogant and stupid, so there is no point advising them.

Company has fantastic Events Holiday-Grilled Garlic Turkey, Pizza, Hoagies, Prime Rib,
Golf Group and Annual Company Tourney. 10 year anniversary Picnic. Place that a person
can work until you retire for most.

    Cons

Recently, gone thru a bad, bad, bad headcount Reduction. If make it thru morale lost the remaining
individuals should make it a great place again.

    Advice to Management

    Good Luck!

    Pros

No scheduled breaks, 75 mins use it however you like for break. Rotating shifts one week 4 days the next 3 and so on.

    Cons

12 hour shifts, depends what shift you work on B shift is the best for team work and making your day go by fast, good luck on A,C and D if you want no teamwork and lazy workers who don't help.

    Advice to Management

Extra bonus to best shift if possible or something because we are the ones working our butts off to make up for other shifts.

I worked at Polar Semiconductor full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with. Developed good rapport with my staff, peers and mgt. Very much a "family" in that sense. I got to learn a lot about BCD technologies (an area I had not worked with before). Benefits were nice as were the 401k matching program. With automotive certified processes, the company could make a lot of money if Operations gets its act together.

    Cons

Always trying to do more with less (a lot less). Pay is definitely average or a little below. With a lot of old equipment that isn't matched, there were a lot of processing issues and resulting scrap. Technology development runs at a snail's pace because the fab is always overloaded. Not clear to me that Operations really knows how to run a fab efficiently, resulting in a lot of WIP bubbles and "Chinese fire drills"

    Advice to Management

Make the investment in world-class equipment engineers and maintenance techs. Make a commitment to develop a world-class infrastructure. Change the wafer cost model to make it more aligned with other companies.
