I have been working at Polycom full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The flexibility and trust within the organisation is the best I have experienced
With the company going private there is opportunity to do things we have never done before - which keeps it interesting
Looked after me through two maternity leaves
The technology really does mean you have stronger relationships with teams across the world

    Cons

Whilst we meet over video - I would like to meeting face to face with my team (based in the US) - I have never met any of them in the flesh over the past 7 years

    Advice to Management

I truly believe 6 monthly face to face get together would be beneficial especially for teams based across continents

I worked at Polycom full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - flexibility of WFH & meeting on video

    Cons

    - lacking career progression / opportunities
    - company growth is weak, no real direction, especially during and post acquisition
    - make redundancies regularly - lacks job stability
    - acquistion in 2016 was painful and harsh on a lot of people, morale has suffered
    - people within the business do not work together, regions/country taking their own direction

    Advice to Management

Start working with execs to actually grow the business offering, reputation and improve morale. The place has become dull and felt like it's just churning out the same thing, buying time and getting through

    Pros

I truthfully cannot think of any Pros of working at Polycom.

    Cons

    - Rude and obnoxious managers who will find any chance to make you feel degraded.

    - Absolutely no career development (Don't buy into what they tell you in the interview process).

    - Slough office is like a cemetery, absolutely no atmosphere.

    - No values, if there are then management certainly do not adhere to them.

    Advice to Management

    Have respect for your employees.

    Cons

Multiple redundancy waves through the years in order to cut costs and please the stock market have cut down resources, making more difficult to keep product quality up and to follow roadmaps

    Advice to Management

I worked at Polycom full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good base salary. Product use to be cool. A lot of good people on the ground, shame about management.

    Cons

Absolutely no trust, treat senior experienced people like juniors monitoring their every movement and actions. Asked to chase every single deal, even less than $1000. No long term account management, take the order and move on.

    Advice to Management

Sales managers may look like they are achieving their quota short term but it's at the detriment of long term account development for those larger strategic opportunities. My current company allows this development and is very successful.
