I have been working at Pomeroy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Under the right management, you will get opportunities to grow within the company.
    - You will have opportunities to learn IT skills on the job
    - Certification opportunities paid for by the company depending on which business unit/group you're a part of

    Cons

    - Benefits could be more comprehensive in coverage
    - Need more appreciation days for employees that are based in the same region, but operating on different functional/business teams.

    Advice to Management

Continue to empower your Account Management and Field Service Management teams to run the accounts in the best interest of the customer.

I worked at Pomeroy full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great People, Improving Work Environment, Great OEM Partnerships. Good Company to begin your career with. Management is mostly fair and truthful.

    Cons

Benefits and pay are lacking. Technical talent doesn't stick around. No 401k Match. For a technology company, the companies infrastructure is far from optimized.

    Advice to Management

Stale Leadership lacks ability to motivate. Entire Org would be served well by a change in Leadership. Bullying is not a good way to inspire performance or loyalty

I worked at Pomeroy full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    - Schedule is unlikely to be changed without discussion
    - So long as minimum metrics are met you're free to do whatever
    - GSC promotes a "shared suffering" mentality that breeds comradery
    - If you're above the L1 role there are certification opportunities

    Cons

    - GSC is highly political.
    - Account profitability sets the importance of your role. If you're assigned to an account that doesn't generate profit then you're not a going to be a priority
    - Delegation is often out of control. Program Managers delegate work to Service Desk Managers who delegate to the Process Analysts who delegate to Level 2s
    - Senior Management has changed multiple times and each change upends previously established processes
    - Lack of accountability. Service Desk Managers often get moved to different accounts instead of being held accountable for their failures.
    - Compensation is drastically lower than other similar opportunities in the area
    - GSC promotes a "shared suffering" mentality that breeds comradery

    Advice to Management

    - Fire underperforming Managers
    - Provide more accessible advancement opportunities in and out of the GSC
    - Invest in ways to show appreciation outside of quarterly food days
    - Investigate the level of delegation that is occurring, particularly from outside the GSC into it.

I have been working at Pomeroy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - They'll hire you if you have no significant support experience
    - Use it as a platform to grow your IT support career
    - DO NOT work there longer than 3 years. You can get more money elsewhere after the experience

    Cons

    - Keep to yourself because it's very easy to get involved in unnecessary drama
    - Don't expect raises
    - Only 1 level of promotion before management
    - 401k Match is not a thing there

    Advice to Management

Stop caring so much about SLA's. Focus on the employees

I worked at Pomeroy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very relaxed and casual environment. Very well developed processes, protocols, and knowledge base. Employee of the month system is a great way to acknowledge and honor positive achievements.

    Cons

There is very minimal monetary rewards for consistent good work. The usage of profanities by employees is too common and too much accepted by management.

    Advice to Management

Create a system of bonuses for consistent good work. Too many employees that I knew there didn't have job satisfaction because they weren't being properly recognized for their hard work.

I have been working at Pomeroy full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible, good managers, no micro management.

    Cons

Health benefits are way bellow the standard.

    Advice to Management

    Try to improve health benefits.

I worked at Pomeroy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Client interaction is easy.
    Pulling reports relatively easy.
Updating KM and guiding analysts is relatively easy.
    Relatively fun and friendly atmosphere.
    Great environment for nerds alike.
Alright benefits. High deductible insurance, good amount of PTO days, etc.

    Cons

No sense of direction from MGMT; they don't care as long as you're in the green.
MGMT delegates way too much and takes no interest in taking ownership of client concerns.
Executive leadership is diminishing without backfilling, a sign that they're cutting top-level costs to diminish losses.
No real opportunities to move up if you're not in the "good old boys" club.
Feels like you're babysitting too much at times.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to find coverage for their accounts instead of delegating that onto leadership. Management manages the people; leadership managers the processes behind each account.
Management needs to check calendars daily to confirm who is and who is not off instead of scrambling for coverage.
Less delegation in general or at least a raise to compensate for the extra work load: not fair that L2 has to complete items for the key accounts director or program manager on behalf of the service desk manager because they don't know how to complete Excel charts.
