I have been working at Pomona Unified School District part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Lots of school opportunities from child development to Special Education in the Pomona/Diamond Bar area.

    Cons

The actual district workers can be slow and agitating at some points.

    Advice to Management

Hire nicer and intelligent office workers.

I have been working at Pomona Unified School District part-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

One of the best experiences I have encountered, while working at Pomona Unified School District, is the ability to hire potential College Intern Tutors for four of the enriching programs.

    Cons

The only thing I wish PUSD would offer would be bonuses.

    Advice to Management

Bonus incentives would really help the morale of classified district employees.

I have been working at Pomona Unified School District full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A small percentage of educators are completely devoted to serving the students in south Pomona.

    Cons

    - Lots of employees at all levels doing as little as possible, hiding in plain sight.
    - Lots of diva-like behavior from educators whom are incompetent.

    Advice to Management

Keep working with the union to improve morale. Try to "golden handshake" as many of the old guard members hanging onto bitterness.

I worked at Pomona Unified School District full-time

    Pros

Large school district in a pretty large city. Invested community. New schools and innovative ideas are always being implemented.

    Cons

Just like any school district there are lots of politics, personal vendettas sometimes get in the way of good education for the teachers, but that's more of an exception than a rule, in my experience.

    Advice to Management

Don't take everything so personal. Really keep the lines of communication open and consider what is best for the students all the time.

    Pros

There are some good students and fellow teachers. However most students in the district are low-income and below grade level.

    Cons

Admin and district are more worried about image than substance. They also back up parents and students before teachers so you get left hung out to dry sometimes.

    Advice to Management

    Support teachers more.
