    Cons

I worked at Popular Holdings part-time

    Pros

    • Mostly friendly helpful staff to help you learn the ropes if you're new • Very relaxed job during weekdays, able to chat with co-workers and customers • Relaxed break timing • Able to get free leftover stuff (like posters, notebooks etc.) • 20% Staff Discount • Flexible working days (can choose when to work but in a month advance) • Can go home on the dot, no need for OT most of the times other than festive seasons with occasional OT)

    Cons

    • Chinese is mostly spoken at the store I worked at so will may be hard to keep up if you do not understand Chinese. (Also due to the fact close to half of the staff or Malaysians and Chinese is their stronger spoken language) The older staff does not do much work and only put up a performance. • Long working hours • Need to stand quite long • Duties may be repetitive •Pay is $7/hr which is quite little for the things you do (Carry heavy loads of items up and down, having to check for expiry dates for titbits section every month despite not being in titbit department, do things outside of your own department) •Severe lack of manpower which leads to being unable to fire incompetent workers and the low pay leads to no attraction of newcomers. •Manager nitpicks on the small details and does not care about the elephant in the room (assigning people to the department which needs more manpower during specific times like back-to-school season, the textbook department is severely under-staffed.)

I have been working at Popular Holdings full-time

    Pros

Not expected to work late most of the days. By 6pm, 99% of the people will have left.

    Cons

Expected to continue working at home and over weekends Will get penalize if you are late for work. Even if you work late in office/from home the night before. No variable bonus and may remove aws too. Practically no staff benefits Lots of weird house rules. Come on, do not treat your staff like school children. Stingy to send staff for training. Practically no training at all. Poor salary package. Low basic salary. The top management are all leaving. HR director resigned within a month of joining. Finance director is 1 month old? IT director is non-existent. Warehouse director joined less than a year. Something is seriously wrong with the company. The boss/owner changes his mind at whim. Will start new projects and terminate them at whim. No reason given
