I have been working at Porch for less than a year

    Pros

The culture is amazing, the people that work here genuinely care about each other. Porch is always providing fun events, outings and lost of free snacks and food for its employees. I started here as a LMS and was promoted after 6 months to another department. I was encouraged in my strengths and taught how to work through my weaker areas by management. Overall a great place to work.

    Cons

Pay is not the best, but there are a lot of other benefits as an employee. Also, parking can be a headache depending on what time you arrive, but they do offer an Orca Pass or a parking stipend.

    Advice to Management

Keep encouraging your employees to take initiative to learn. If they feel stuck, encourage them to start a RAMP project by volunteering extra time in an area

I worked at Porch full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    • Fast Paced - Tons of lateral and upward mobility • Freedom - Nobody looking over your shoulder. The kind of place where you can get your work done in your own style • Lots of smart, lovely people • Unlimited Vacation (for certain roles)

    Cons

    • Felt a little hectic at times. Tons of people let go. It could make you feel concern for your job security or for the security of the company as a whole.

    I worked at Porch

    Pros

Porch is truly a melting pot for awesome individuals from varying backgrounds - I made some lifelong friends during my 1.5 years there. The atmosphere is energetic and it retains the allure of a hip start up while maintaining the feel of an established company. A few perks like snacks, ping pong tables, bean bags, scooters and whatnot.

    Cons

I there is a list of cons but honestly, the cons are the same ones you're going to find at any start up. The hiring process leaves much to be desired, especially for middle management, so during a 6 month span, I had 5 different managers. Employees are overworked and underpaid. Company values like "transparency" and "customer delight" are more idealistic than realistic. High turnover.

    Advice to Management

Take feedback from the people on the front lines into deeper consideration

I worked at Porch full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Culture is good - Caring people - Individuals who try to do the right thing - Unlimited PTO policy (recommended you only do 3 weeks though)

    Cons

    - Continually told you have a bright future at the company but no real action - Told professional development was coming and it never did - Blurring ethical lines about selling a product but it wasn't finished being built yet - I.e. Integrating leads into a client's CRM system, but the functionality isn't ready for another couple of months - Exiting staff under the pretense of reasoning when in actuality Porch is trying...

Thanks for the feedback. You highlighted a few pros that focus on our people and I agree that there is nothing more valuable than the people at Porch. See my response to the 7/12 review - it addresses your point on product. On exiting staff, it is simply not true that we've fired ...

I worked at Porch full-time for more than a year

    Pros

This is a great place to start building your career, especially if you have just graduated or are trying to break into the startup world. -great mentorship from managers. -Lunch provided fridays. -Casual tech atmosphere. - Generous benefits. Use Tinypulse- not many companies take feedback so seriously and senior management really follows it.

    Cons

-Starting to have the worst aspects of a startup and corporation at the same time (heavy beauracracy and also scattered/disorganized) -below average compensation. -extremely difficult to change roles. The Sales/Account Management team is impossible to leave. This company changes rapidly, so any pros and cons I list might be different next week.

    Advice to Management

worry a bit more about internal culture than PR

    Pros

Transparent company with goal oriented work structure. Snacks, food benefit, good medical, dental.

    Cons

No 401K matching product is lacking any compelling evidence of being succesful in the long term operations subsidized. Non profit company. Never promote from within Poor training for career development and advancement No annual salary bump, fails to keep up with increase cost of living, especially in Seattle. I worked at Porch full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Fast growing start up with lots to learn and great co-workers to grow with! Free lunch Fridays, keg always on ready to go after 3pm and ping pong whenever you want it! Culture is a bright and energetic.

    Cons

Growth is too fast at times and the growing pains stay longer than they should. Tenured Managers are all about Porch and ready to help you grow. New Managers are not quite on board with the Porch vibe and do not know how to get the department on track.

    Advice to Management

Step into the AM life for a week. Learn the struggles that we face on a daily basis and help us make them better. One day on the phone will not turn that department around. Account management is in desperate need of your help and expertise. Respect is gained by action and the AM team needs to see management and upper management get their hands dirty and dig deeper to find the core problems of the department.

    Pros

Location - close to capitol hill and downtown Free snacks The co workers are amazing.

    Cons

Morale is very low. The product that is sold is non existent which leads most of the issues. The guilt I felt every day was a real struggle for me. I would manage accounts with hard working small business and they are ALL dissatisfied with the product. It was a huge moral dilemma for me because my pay was tied to keeping them at Porch as a paying subscriber. It is an extremely difficult position to be in and ultimately...

    Advice to Management

Make the product better. Spend more time with the AM team so you truly understand what is going on here. Not a half day but for a week. This will show you actually care about this team and will allow you to see real issues in person so you can fix them. Pay the workers more. I am now making more in my part time jobs than I was working 50 hours a week at Porch Allow more time off for the workers. I always felt...

I have been working at Porch full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I love my job. My team is amazing and the environment in the office is fun and infectious. In 4.5 months i haven't had a day that I was dreading going to work. I miss my coworkers if I have a day off! Great benefits, beer Friday's, ping pong and rooftop BBQs!

    Cons

The pay is a startup salary. Definitely not going to make millions but the other benefits make up for it

    Advice to Management

Continue to try and salary match within the industry
