I have been working at Porch full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Awesome people and flexible with time off.

    Cons

Unclear of the ultimate path of the company.

    Advice to Management

Be more up front and transparent with the goals of each team and the ultimate direction of the company.

I worked at Porch full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I worked at Porch for 2.5 years in the Account Management department. During my time there I grew and learned so much both personally and professionally. I worked with some of the best people I have ever met and I am happy to say they will remain some of my good friends for life. That right there is probably the best pro about working for Porch. All of the people you meet along the way. Everyone has a story and each person...

    Cons

Unfortunately, the list of cons is quite lengthy. Lets start off with the company values: No Jerks, No Egos: Amongst the employees you work side by side with I think people who worked at Porch held true to this value. Everyone was respectful of one another for the most part and genuinely cared for each other. But when it came to middle management and leadership they really couldn’t hold true to a value they put in...

    Advice to Management

Value your employees. A lot of them have been around for a long time and have moved through change after change. Give them a fair chance to adjust if they are not performing to standards. Also, if you are going to say transparency is one of your company values, start being transparent. If not, remove it from your company value list. My last piece of advise would be to stick to the procedures and standards you...

I worked at Porch full-time for more than a year

    Pros

People are always open to listening to new ideas. There are endless amount of snacks and coffee available Executives are approachable

    Cons

Management lacks transparency. They will fire individuals without any warning or a chance to improve. The excuse of budget cuts, and change in strategy are two very diplomatic ways to that they don't really care about their employees well-being

    Advice to Management

Offer competitive salaries right off the bat to attract the best talent in the market. Hiring the right people and employee happiness has a large contribution to a company that is on the line of making it or breaking it.

I have been working at Porch full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Porch gives you the opportunity to have a solid job right out of college. There are a lot of resume building opportunities than can set you up for success wherever you go. Being my first real job out of school, I don't have much to compare it with. But, above everything else, the people are some of the best I've ever met. The environment fosters friendship and strong teams and that's hard to argue with. Additionally,...

    Cons

You're never really comfortable. Everything changes on a monthly basis and it's impossible to get I to a rhythm. There are a lot of really good ideas, but execution always seems to come up a little short.

    Advice to Management

Just to make sure that whenever change occurs, make sure everyone is on the same page before proceeding. A lot of past missteps feel like they occurred because we were playing telephone with information, or messaging hadn't been relayed in the best way.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm glad you're building skills and experience that'll help you progress in your career. There's a lot of learning that happens in a start-up and that benefit is largely driven by what you call out as one of the cons - the amount of change. I believe strongly ...
