I have been working at Porch full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I've worked at Porch for 3+ years and I am a completely different person now. I've learned so much from so many people over the years and I am grateful that my co-workers took the time to invest in me. There are so many selfless people that work here and they also happen to be some of the most intelligent folks I've ever met. I feel like I am getting paid to go back to school. I feel like the bar is really high, the...

    Cons

Most of what I would say is related to areas where I'm seeing improvement but they are still worth mentioning. It is a very ambiguous environment and not everyone can thrive in these circumstances. There aren't many formal development opportunities/paths and you really have to take control of your own future. Once you realize this and take ownership of yourself you can really grow here (this is true anywhere you work)....

    Advice to Management

Now that we are growing, offer the team additional development opportunities through development programs, mentorship, training, etc. Continue focusing on our customers, getting to know them, gaining empathy for them and truly solving their problems. Without them, we don't have anyone to serve and we can be great at serving them.

I have been working at Porch full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Opportunity to solve an industry challenge that has not been solved. No blueprint to follow and lots of excitement to solve the problem. Team is strong and committed to the success of the organization.

    Cons

Catch 22 of Growth - on the positive side it is a growing company, downside is that it takes time to catch up to the growth. It is not easy solving hard problems. Porch is not for someone that is looking for the 'cush' 9-5 job.

    Advice to Management

Pacing - Build out at a pace that has less organizational strain.

I have been working at Porch full-time for less than a year

    Pros

This is by far the best company I've ever worked for. The culture is amazing, the mission is real and will change how people improve their homes, and the amount that we are able to produce each day or week far exceeds anything I've been a part of. I own my work and area of the business, but the CEO and execs will dig in with me personally and brainstorm and come up with better solutions. I love the opportunity to...

    Cons

We all work really hard, so it's a company for people that want to be part of building something. The CEO is awesome (by far the best CEO and leader I've ever been around) -- he tries to leave by 6:00, but is online every night until late. It's a driven culture for people that want to be a part of something big and to build a great company, but it isn't going to be a good fit for someone that wants a normal job. Additionally,...

    Advice to Management

The company has a "no jerks", "no bureaucracy", and "no egos" rule -- for the most part it follows these rules well, but there have been a couple of people who broke the culture that should have been fired faster. It ended up happening, but making faster personnel decisions could improve.
