I worked at Port Authority of Allegheny County as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

I got to see many facets of Civil Engineering. They would take me out to see a different project about once a week.

    Cons

Many times it is boring. You are assigned to do random intern jobs like scan papers and organize drawings. They try to make sure you're entertained but when the good jobs run out, you get stuck with the boring things to do.

    Advice to Management

I understand it is necessary. It would be great if the intern was actually in charge of a specific project during its time there.

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Port Authority of Allegheny County (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Decent pay and benefits when compared to other local jobs, overtime available if you like working with the public and kissing butt.

    Cons

Management does not have your back, 95% of the public hate you and the cops have open season on the drivers. It would be hard to recommend this job to anyone nowadays with the current culture and work philosophy.

    Advice to Management

When someone has put in 25 plus years of their lives in the company have a little decency to show some respect and courtesy and at least wish them well not "don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out.

I have been working at Port Authority of Allegheny County full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits. Good wages. For a person with no degree best money u can make in this city.

    Cons

The passengers. Rude broke and ignorant. Mangement treats u like a number not a person. Route foremen though in the same union are always out to get u and never help u.
