I worked at Portfolio Recovery full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Possibilities for strong flexibility with schedule and a reliable company that is the leader in the industry. Nice incentives to reward top performers. Interaction with a wide array of personality types.

    Cons

Career progression hits a ceiling after certain levels of performance. There are other opportunities offered but are not financially beneficial to take and thus one can leave one looking elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

The departments are in silos that do not allow top performers much advancement outside their silo. There is inherently a high turnover in certain positions but consider ways for advancement as to not lose talent that otherwise would have stayed.

I have been working at Portfolio Recovery full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible schedule, nice pay check every 2 weeks. It is a fun environment. Plenty of paid time off and holiday pay.

    Cons

The only cons i have found is working until 10pm, but it's only one night per week. And of course the occasional getting cussed out ok the phone and listening to sob stories.

I have been working at Portfolio Recovery full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

PRA is a very fast-growing, medium-sized business. Working in the IT department has been great. Management is willing to take chances and trust employees to do their jobs efficiently, and recognize hard work.

    Cons

Though PRA is growing into a large, international business with around 5000 employees, some aspects of the company are stuck in "small business mode".

    Advice to Management

Focus on employee retention and competitive salary.

I worked at Portfolio Recovery full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Portfolio has upper management that truly cares about their employees. I worked for Portfolio for many years. I felt the support of all the people I worked with to assist, educate, and motivate at every opportunity. I honestly am surprised to hear such negative comments regarding the training, and the management staff. I cannot believe things have changed that much since I have left. I can only recommend that disgruntled employees reach out to their superiors, and honestly discuss their concerns. I have such respect for the company ... I would be surprised if things have changed that much.

    Cons

Portfolio is one of the best places to work for in the collections field. Upper Management cares about their employees, and enthusiastically supports those employees that are eager to learn, and to embrace their responsibilities, and eager to move on up with the company.

    Advice to Management

I found leadership within the company to be concerned about their employees, and to assist each person that is eager to move upward with the company to do so.

    Hours...it's not an 8-5 job

    Advice to Management

Not consistent with policies and procedures
