    Pros

In its hey day it was comfortable and paid well . In the wind down my bosses kept us informed and cared. Upper management can only do so much to save a "bad" bank.

    Cons

They only saved their "choice " people and friends. If were "grandfathered" in your set for life.... The rest not so much

    Advice to Management

None... They were ruled by Germany

    Pros

Size of NY branch allowed to know everybody and get things done quickly.
    Pleasant colleagues.
    Ability to move across departments.
    Great benefits.

    Cons

Dealing with head office could be an exercise in patience...
Salary a bit under market rate (but great benefits...)
The bank is winding down assets.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

The employees at Portigon worked together as a team. The company was also family-oriented and allowed flexibility with working hours and time-off.

    Cons

As Portigon is an international bank, the German law and US law had to be applied for the different bank regulations. There were times when it became confusing and difficult to understand.

    Advice to Management

Portigon is currently in a wind-down situation. It should continue to give the remaining employees adequate notice as it relates to their termination date.

    Neutral Outlook

    Pros

Great work life balance with stable work for the next 3 to 5 years. There could be potential upside.

    Cons

Wind down portfolio with no new business. So work is dull and not challenging. Very limited career advancement. Upside potential is limited given competition from bigger and more reputable shops.

    Advice to Management

Do a better job sourcing new business.

  9. "Portigon is in the process of winding down"

    StarStarStarStarStar
    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

Colleagues are lovely people. The few of the employees left are paid quite well because some level of staff retention is needed to keep day to day operations going. Any jobs offered now would be on a contract basis and if you are willing to take a short term role, it will be an ok place to be.

    Cons

The company is being wound down and many people are waiting for redundancy packages. Staff motivation levels are low. Cost reduction is severe.
