I worked at Portugal Telecom full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Always paid my salary, unlike a lot of Portuguese companies; training (limited).

    Cons

No salary increases at all for 10 years, not even cost of living updates, even with good performance reviews. We were told our salaries were already at the top of the market average. It got harder and harder to work there - employees who left were not replaced or were replaced with a few fresh graduates we had to train in addition to doing all our previous work plus all the work previously done by those who left; more demands to work all hours with no compensation; more and more rules to abide by and red tape for every little thing; constant cutting down on benefits like pension, medical care, parking, even office space - we were packed like sardines by the time I left. Some of our salary package was in 'perk's that did not count for our Social Security pension, and that I wasn't intersted in, like a new car or cellphone - I would prefer cash and a proper declaration of my real total salary to Social Security. From what I hear, it's been getting worse since I left. All they seem to care about is getting higher profits fro the shareholders every year.

    Advice to Management

    Treat your employees like people.

I worked at Portugal Telecom full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great vision and strategy during long years (until 2014), driving the company to achieve and consolidate leadership in every market.
The best professionals to make it happen, and to work with
Good opportunities for career and professional development

    Cons

Since entrance is altice it's difficult to see what strategy is in place and how it will assure the future of the company

    Advice to Management

Define a strategy that drives the company to a sustainable future and communicate with the employees. Otherwise, there is no point in working in PT, and all the best professional will leave (as it has been seen in the last two years)

I have been working at Portugal Telecom full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Massive work force full of talent and will to work and do better. Experienced people with no afraid to fail and constantly want to grow.

    Cons

Senior management as no defined Goals to workers, no strategy at all.
Majority of the Work Force does not feel recognized and respected with some of the decisions on RHs policy. Moral keep going down and it looks like no one upstairs is paying attention.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your people, really... Listen, because they know better than you. Try to create a new KPI that measures employes satisfaction and take that into account. Cuts don´t make companies better, motivated employes do it for you.
