    Pros

Included in a very solid economic group. Competitive starting benefits package. Many departments where various types of skills are usefull.

    Cons

Work hours required are not consistent with career progression. Career progression is increadibly slow and the benefits for someone working there for more than 3 years are definitly not competitive.

    Advice to Management

Work on a career path with clear and objective goals where employees know how to progress. Have a long term vision for the company that doesn't change every 2 years.

The atitude of some of the supervisors

    Advice to Management

You really need to review the company policies of the inbound calls.

    Pros

Vast majoraty of colleagues have a great technical set.

    Cons

Management outdated. Salaries really under what the market and paying and is deserved by a great number of employees.

    Advice to Management

Give REAL opportunities to great employees, and recognize the effort all employees are making in rough times.

I worked at Portugal Telecom full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great workplace environment, great colleagues. Direct management is accessible and friendly. Good benefits and relatively good salary.

    Cons

Management making bad decisions 9/10 times, acknowledged by everyone. Constant changes to the organization for no apparent reason. Focused in cutting down costs instead of focusing in providing a good service to the clients. Way too much bureaucracy. No career progression or new position opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Stop doing what you have been doing for the last couple of years and do the opposite. The company is not going to last long if it keeps going down the same path.

I have been working at Portugal Telecom full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Personal life / work life balance is not bad.
There used to be some innovation in several areas (not anymore)

    Cons

Way too old way of thinking and managing (punching cards...really?).
Way too difficult to get anywhere in the company (and to evolve); no career plans; no concern for employees, HR doesnt listen to anyone. Salary is freezed forever once you join in.

    Advice to Management

Stop caring only about numbers; Stop being process based and start to (really) care about people. Stop letting your best employees go away. Review salaries and stop looking for ways to demotivate people even more (latest -> making everyone pay for previously free telecomunication services)

I have been working at Portugal Telecom full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good balance of your work with personal life

    Cons

    Salaries frozen
The new owners are trying to go back in time and make it a caveman company
Old ways still being enforced..it's like we're still in the 90's
    No career plans
HR have no clue about tech people
    All talent is leaving

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to make PT a cable company (again).
Unfreeze the salaries and the career plans.
CEO needs to step up and lead people. Our old CEO was a fraud but at least he made everyone row in the same direction.
Understand that you need people in the IT area more than others..so start paying accordingly

I worked at Portugal Telecom full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I worked there for 10 years, and 8 of them we're very good with state of the art technology.

    Cons

Since buying OI Telco, the scandal with BES and the sale to Altice people are going out like crazy and the conditions are a disgrace.

    Pros

The People, the history, the capacity for innovation

    Cons

    Management, strategy and everything else

    Advice to Management

You're losing culture and values. You're deliberately forgetting employee workforce and motivation and value for the business. You're losing clients. You're losing human capital. Is this a red flag? Go figure..
