    Pros

Not afraid to spend money when needed

    Cons

Too many "smart" people in management roles who don't know how to lead

    Advice to Management

Worry about getting work done instead of having meetings all day

I worked at Potashcorp full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I thought I had some real good reason, but I do not anymore.

    Cons

Rants and raves on how they want people with an education. But then lets them go when they downsize and keeps supervisor that have no education.

    Advice to Management

By making your management (supervisor) mostly engineers you are missing the boat.

    Pros

The people that I worked with were fantastic and were always willing to help. Senior Management changes are starting to make a difference, but this will take time.

    Cons

Potash commodity prices are at historic lows. This limits funds available for operational and capital projects. Processes are also very outdated. There are lots of opportunities for improvement.

    Advice to Management

PotashCorp would benefit from increased corporate planning. A 3-5 year plan cascaded to the Director level would improve the focus and effectiveness of the management team.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Potashcorp as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Staff are very dedicated, and genuinely want to make a difference. There is broad recognition that the IT service has been permitted to atrophy of the past 25 years. Change is in the wind.

    Cons

IT management in inexperienced and novices at transforming an organization organically. The leadership is distracted and inconsistent.

    Advice to Management

Management has to reset priorities, and try to do fewer things successfully. That or grow the organization to build more competence and capacity.

I worked at Potashcorp full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Strong Business Model, good compensation and dynamic CEO.

    Cons

Head of finance pays much too much attention on certain female employees. Which makes finance in saskatoon a difficult and uncomfortable environment to work in. There are several finance executives that are in positions they are not capable of handling- relying far too much on consultants on matters that should be dealth with inhouse. In General middle (finance)management is good, but the heads of finance are obsolete, tired and lack management/leadership training.

    Advice to Management

New leadership in finance and an overhaul of individuals (in finance) that have been with the organization far past their expiry. Send all the heads of various finance departments to management/leadership and ethics training!

I have been working at Potashcorp full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Pays better than average, decent insurance, good vacation time.

    Cons

You are only a number, I have seen management fire people just 10 days before they retire. I have watched upper management do unsafe task, then fire someone for doing the same thing the following week. You are pushed beyond safe working conditions often expected to do 2-3 jobs for 1 pay. Now they are laying off 150 people so it will only get worse.
