    High Expectations but Great Discount

    Aug 7, 2021 - Retail Sales Associate
    Recommend
    CEO Approval
    Business Outlook

    Pros

Friendly co-workers, great product to sell, discount on all Williams-Sonoma brands.

    Cons

Goals are the same for sales staff and sales per hour must be met as well as goal of opening new store credit cards. It doesn't matter what shift you work, it's still the same. Opening new cards is hard because a high number of customers are repeat and already have them. Rewards program with PB credit cards is going to be less soon but interest rate is high. Quality on some furniture items is poor and customers can wait months for delivery. Shipping costs on furniture or catalog items is high and out of control. Tough to sell someone a coffee table that is $900 and shipping is an additional $399. I know UPS sets those rates but that kills sales. Most associates work part time but the company is wanting everyone to be full time and we will lose good people who don't want to switch. Reviews were given at the beginning of summer but no raises and our store is doing great!

    Beware

Oct 10, 2021 - Retail Sales Associate in McLean, VA

    Pros

As a employee you get a 40% discount

    Cons

Most of the managers at this location have terrible attitudes. You are not actually trained here you receive information as you go which can cause you many issues. They say that you just need to be available to work at least 2 weekends out of the month but be prepared to work every single weekend friday-Sunday. Then when you want to take some weekends off they act offended and say that your working retail and should expect to work weekends Even though you are not properly trained they expect you to know everything and they are not really patient with you. Not only can they be short with you but costumers also. I have seen many customers come in a complaint about how terrible the management was.

    Company Culture

    Pros

There is a team approach even though there are sales goals, they are not set to the point where they cannot be met. The management works with the associates to meet their goals. Monthly reviews are given with positive advice for attaining the personal and store goals and overall connections with the management.

    Cons

There can be favorites or cliques among the associate staff, which is not uncommon in a retail environment.
