I worked at Poudre School District (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great to have the opportunity to work with the future...our children! Lots of great relationships and memories made in the time I was there.

    Cons

Difficult to maintain the drive to do the job of teaching when there are so many unreasonable non-academic expectations placed upon today's educators.

    Advice to Management

Strive to allow professional teachers do the job they are trusted to do without so many administrative hassles.

I worked at Poudre School District (Less than a year)

    Pros

Excellent benefits, great working hours with time off. Great student body, many dedicated teachers. Free sporting events at the school. Overall decent place to work.

    Cons

Policy dictates too much of program operation. Expectations overruled the learning process. Teaching staff very clicky. Breaks are unheard of.

I worked at Poudre School District full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The district is full of great and brilliant people. Virtually everyone is supportive and committed to improving the district and impacting the education of every child. The working hours in IT were very reasonable compared to most corporate environments. The management in IT are generally trying to improve the department and organization as a whole.

    Cons

Organizationally the district does not really support IT. The IT department is often overwhelmed and expected to fulfill unrealistic expectations. What this results in is an extreme amount of stress for department employees and an unhealthy work environment. Like most government organizations there are always the few people who are bringing the whole organization down but because of the way the district operates these people will never be let go. Depending on which department and team you are on there may or may not be opportunities for career growth.

    Pros

Enriching the minds of so many young people with foreign language, engineering/math, science, physical fitness and art.

    Cons

Taking morality and accountability out of the classroom is why I left the Poudre School District. Letting students bully other students when the teachers turn their heads and act like nothing happened. Bullying is a crime! It belittles smart, intelligent students who don't have the social skills to fight back stronger then their abuser.

    Advice to Management

Stop the bullying and make all students accountable for their actions. Stop turning your heads and stop blaming the victims!!!

I have been working at Poudre School District full-time

    Pros

If you don't grow as a teacher in PSD, it's probably your own fault. There are countless professional development opportunities. Also, parents are pretty involved and overall very supportive. I appreciate the 10 flex days each year, because a day off is a day off, whether I am sick or just want to take a vacation.

    Cons

Each building is its own animal. You might have great leadership and high morale; you might be micromanaged and bullied. Also, high expectations are great, but some buildings have a workaholic culture without the workaholic pay scale.

    Pros

Traut is organize and friendly. The students and staff are always wonderful to work with. I look forward to work everyday.

    Cons

I have not found anything to complain about. If I had to say something it would be that the heating in the building is inconsistent.
