I have been working at Poway USD - San Diego part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great energy and vision for educating kids. Plenty of opportunity to work independently and find projects that support teaching and learning. Helpful professional growth seminars.

    Cons

Felt like I was thrown in the deep end. I'm pretty independent so that didn't bother me too much, but I find that I regularly discover something I should have been told earlier in the process, that I had to find out for myself: about resources that are available to help the students, expectations of what we are supposed to do as instructional aides in classes, especially for classes with teachers who don't provide direction.

    Advice to Management

It would be helpful for new instructional aides to get a handout of frequently asked questions, resources available to pull from as we support the teachers we're working with, and contact people/numbers that we would need regularly.
