    Pros

Company benefits are employee-friendly. Salary is on par with competition. Adequate work-life balance.

IT Management is inexperienced and closed minded. SDLC is antiquated and anti-productive.

    Advice to Management

Educate yourselves on proper Project Management or install middle-management with skills you do not have.

It's good for a beginner welder that doesn't have much experience.

    Cons

No OT, doesn't pays good enough for a experience welder.

    Advice to Management

Need to improve the pay rate for experience welders.

I worked at Powell Industries (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good benefits for the most. Most employees are nice. I know one manager that is nice and cares but the rest suck.

    Cons

No advancement unless your a suck up or a yes man. Managers talk a good story but are only concerned about thier own butts.

    Advice to Management

Go back to college and learn what management is truly about. The HR department doesn't care about the employees they only care about themselves and the managers they like.

    Pros

Good benefits, regular work hours, airport adjacent.

    Cons

Management is incompetent, irresponsible, doesn't communicate, always passing the buck and looking for a scapegoat when things go wrong.

    Useless training program.

Low pay, nobody gets promoted. Not even the brown nosers.

    Advice to Management

Clean house . Laziness and apathy are holding this company back.

I have been working at Powell Industries full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Almost everyone working there is friendly. Different cultures all around the warehouse. Pretty easy job depending on position. Alot of overtime at times and 3 shifts to choose. Huge variety of benefits to choose from, but no, health insurance is not free.

    Cons

Low starting pay with horrible raises. You get 1%-3% of your hourly pay as a raise after one year, with 1% being not satisfactory and 3% meaning you're the excellent worker. What this means is that the usual raise will be about $0.20 per year. Overtime with lots of hours usually lasts all of fall-winter, and ends during spring-summer. Checks received with overtime are decent, while the 40hour paychecks are tear-inducing.

    Advice to Management

Pay your workers better and give them better raises. What good does giving a hard working employee 20 cents more than the lazy employee do?

I worked at Powell Industries full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Friendly people
    Small Company Atmosphere considering size
    Great/Low Cost Health Insurance
    Normal Holidays
    Work/Life Balance

    Cons

Little, to No training offered or in place
Little, to No Opportunity for Advancement
Pay is Uncompetitive in the market
Pay incentive structure is almost non-existent
Management is out-of-touch with what is really going on below them
    Mid-Level Management has zero accountability
Morale is quite low & nothing done to boost it
Hiring Strategy: let the good qualified folks go, and fail to replace or hire unqualified individuals to replace.

    Advice to Management

Advice to management - Take a look now an again from the "ground up", the company is performing poorly, because there is no accountability of mid-level management. Mid-level managers don't know how to do their jobs at almost every division/department, so how can the employees be expected to? Human Resources has to many "hands in the cookie jar". There are too may incompetent folks throughout. Hiring decisions are inept, especially in regards to hiring "professional employees" that haven't a clue, no education, no qualifications and lack of at least some kind of experience.
